Unlocking the Future: Latinx MBA Association Hosts Third Annual Leadership Summit to Elevate Latinx Business Leaders
Latinx MBA Association
Our mission is to develop, empower, and advance Latinx business leaders to create positive economic change in the U.S.
[San Francisco, CA - Oct 18, 2023] — The Latinx MBA Association, a 501(c)3 non-profit dedicated to fostering, empowering, and advancing Latinx business leaders, is set to host its third annual Leadership Summit from November 2nd to 5th in Los Angeles, California. Every year, Latinx MBA convenes alumni and student leaders from the top MBA programs.?
Forging Pathways to Leadership
The annual Leadership Summit is a cornerstone of Latinx MBA’s mission. The event will feature both alumni and student tracks, to promote personal leadership and professional development. The student track, hosted at the Luskin Conference Center, will convene student leaders from the top MBA programs, building community and sharing best practices for driving institutional change. The alumni track, hosted at Amazon Studios in Culver City, will convene alumni members in the technology ecosystem, building community and harnessing collective resources to lead the next wave of innovation. Together, these events cultivate a powerful network poised to lead a critical segment of the U.S. economy.
Empowering Latinx Leaders
Since its inception in April 2020, the Latinx MBA Association has grown exponentially, boasting over 1,300 members spanning 130 MBA programs. Of these members, 80% are alumni, 20% are current MBA students, and an impressive 65% identify as first-generation Americans. This remarkable growth underscores the organization's commitment to building a robust community of Latinx business leaders, who today make up less than 5% of graduate students in MBA programs, represent 4% of Fortune 500 CEOs, and manage less than 1% of assets under management. Latinx MBA enrollment has only slightly increased from 2% of total enrollment at the country’s top 10 business schools, as reported by the Los Angeles Times in 1988, nearly 35 years ago.
“The meteoric rise of the Latinx MBA Association demonstrates tremendous value for its members, community partners, and corporate sponsors. For the past 3 years, we have taken strategic steps to build programming across the pipeline, from prospective MBAs to tenured alumni, and host the annual Leadership Summit to bring together multiple generations of leaders.” says Andrew Mairena (MIT Sloan MBA '19), Co-Founder & President.
Harnessing a $3.2 Trillion Opportunity
According to the 2023 Latino Donor Collaborative U.S. GDP Report, the U.S. Latino GDP is a staggering $3.2 trillion. If U.S. Latinos were a nation, they would rank as the world's fifth-largest economy. The Latinx MBA Association recognizes this segment as an extraordinary economic opportunity that benefits everyone. The organization seeks to drive change, influence, and progress the U.S. Latino economy by equipping its members with the network and leadership acumen needed for success - a key outcome of the Leadership Summit.?
