AI-Powered UX Strategies for Unprecedented Engagement and Personalization
Discover the groundbreaking potential of AI in revolutionizing e-learning experiences and how it can relaunch your skills to new heights. As technology advances, e-learning has become an increasingly popular mode of learning. The pandemic pushed the boundaries of e-learning adaption to all levels. Recent reports or studies highlight the projected $602 billion industry by 2030. With the advent of Artificial Intelligence (AI), there are numerous possibilities that can be innovated to solve user problems in e-learning. I worked in the e-learning domain way back in 2014-15 for JEE aspirants. Designed a highly engaging Assessment Tool which helped the company to grab lakhs of users in 6 months' time. But the technological scenario has changed a lot now.
This article can be a preface to the preface of UX + AI + E-learning Domain Disruption:
Progressive learning = Growth
AI algorithms are already providing personalized recommendations for adaptive practice & exercises. Making e-learning stand out from school learning. Which will help inculcate the Old Indian Schooling (Gurukul) Practices in the digital world.
The Method is more important than the Skill while teaching.
And every time the method used keeps on changing based on the student's capabilities. (More is explained in the Personalization point.) AI-enabled Progressive Learning Tools are the demand of the time and users can now expect much in this.
Personalization = Users' Micro-Profiling
AI is also helping to make micro-profiling of the students.
This profiling can be based on the 4-dimensional capabilities of the students:
Adaption of e-learning content to meet the needs of individual learners. By analyzing user data, AI-powered tools can provide content that matches the learner's current knowledge level, learning style, and pace. This can help learners progress through courses at their own pace and get the most out of their e-learning experience.
Engagement = Motivation
'Hurdles in Motivation' are the biggest challenge while learning in digital classrooms. I'm sure the majority of us have experienced it in our life. Be it corporate training, certifications or any degree education. AI-powered tools can analyze user behavior and learning patterns, and provide tailored content and recommendations based on individual learning styles & predictions. This can help learners stay motivated and engaged throughout their e-learning journey. Some of the existing Apps are already doing it to an extent. RIIID has developed multiple prediction tools to identify Score, Dropout probability & Student scores.
Emotionally connected designs can only persuade designers to have higher engagement.
Time Management = Edutainment
Balancing work, personal life, and learning can be challenging, as users need to allocate time for self-paced learning or live sessions. This can be resolved by making learning more fun and engaging.
The day when people started considering learning as entertainment, they will spare their evening prime time to learn new skillsets, toolsets & mindsets.
AI-powered tools with the help of good instructional designs can analyze user behaviour and learning patterns, and provide suggestions for optimal study engagement and breaks. Additionally, AI-powered scheduling tools can help learners balance their e-learning with other commitments and responsibilities.
There'll be bigger responsibilities on designers to design solutions and flows more "Emotionally connected" which will replace Netflix with learning.
The day we can design the Netflix experience for education, there'll be higher engagement in e-learning.
Collaboration = Co-learning
Today self-paced learning tools are tightly coupled with community tools like Discord. Not every time all types of users are comfortable interacting with communities openly.
AI can be leveraged for better human experience & recommendations:
I remember feeling comfortable & warm with my school friends who resonate with my mental model, intellect level & emotional quotient while learning, where mutual privacy is taken care of. This comfort helps sacred more brain juices for better creativity & memorability.
Feedback = Assessment
Providing timely and constructive feedback to users can be challenging in e-learning, especially when automated grading systems are used.
Today AI-powered assessment tools are analyzing user data and providing personalized assessments and feedback based on individual learning styles and knowledge levels.
Instead of taking the test at the end of the module, assessing 'concept understanding' progressively is helping students to pick up things where they left off.
This is already helping learners identify areas for improvement and stay motivated throughout their e-learning journey.
I saw Cognii is providing the marquee solution in this already.
In conclusion, the convergence of AI and e-learning holds immense potential to reshape the future of education. By embracing AI-powered UX strategies, we can unlock unparalleled engagement, personalization, and collaboration in online learning environments.
