Unlocking the full value of Artificial Intelligence
From machine learning operations, to systems that can capture and process actions and decision in real time, to enabling self-driving cars and healthcare providers to better diagnose illnesses, the use of AI to create business value is here to stay. But, unlocking the full value of AI takes more than just adding more data.
Artificial intelligence gets its intelligence from assessing data sets to derive patterns, the problem with this approach is that it can be limited in nature, as its understanding won’t go beyond the specific data set provided. Hence, one small variation can potential confuse the system resulting in false positive or even worse misdiagnosing a patient. Moreover, the exclusive reliance on datasets can bring great security concerns, as these can be easily spoof through minor changes yielding incorrect predictions.
The AI vulnerabilities cannot be resolved by simply increasing the amount of data because there are technical and business constrains that would limit the amount of data that can be processed by AI models; most businesses are not equipped with the required hardware to be able to process large AI models with large datasets, which means sustainability is a challenge. As such, unlocking the full value of AI requires a multidimensional approach that leverages other methodologies to supplement the efficiency and accuracy of AI. Artificial Intelligence can benefit from physics and scientific laws to strengthen outcomes and most importantly, AI should rely on human expertise to improve AI intelligence and unlock the full value of AI.
