However, this journey is fraught with challenges that must be carefully navigated to realize the full potential of digitalization. Few challenges which i personally have faced and heard within my previous organization were

  • Change Management and Cultural Shift : It requires a fundamental shift in organizational culture and mindset. Resistance to change, lack of buy-in from stakeholders, and inadequate change management processes can hinder digitalization efforts.
  • Cost: Implementing a digital supply chain can be costly, requiring significant investments in technology, training, and infrastructure.
  • Integration: Integrating new digital systems with existing processes and technology can be a complex and time-consuming process.
  • Cybersecurity Risks: Protecting against threats from data breaches to ransomware attacks requires robust cybersecurity measures and ongoing vigilance.

My take is if we need to survive in the uncertain and complex global market the we need to use the updated technologies in order to ensure our survival rate is high !!

So , to ensure we sustain within a rapidly growing market we need to Start leveraging supply chain digital technologies to increase business performance by first building and deploying an integrated digital transformation roadmap that comply with both short term improvements and a strategic long-term vision.

We can create an effective digital supply chain roadmap by understanding:

  • Assess Current State: Evaluate the existing supply chain infrastructure, processes, and technologies. Identify inefficiencies, and areas for improvement.
  • Identify Technologies: Research and identify digital technologies that can address the identified challenges and support the business objectives. This may include advanced analytics, automation, Internet of Things (IoT), blockchain, and artificial intelligence.
  • Prioritize Initiatives: Prioritize digital initiatives based on their potential impact on the supply chain and alignment with business goals. Consider both short-term quick wins and long-term strategic investments.
  • Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Fostering collaboration between different functions within the organization, such as IT, operations, finance, and marketing. Ensure that the digital supply chain roadmap aligns with the broader organizational objectives and involves stakeholders from across the company.
  • Staying Agile: Maintain flexibility and agility in implementing the digital supply chain roadmap. Be prepared to adapt to changing market conditions, technology advancements, and business requirements.

With the attitude "to move with flow" and "being adaptive and less resistive" will provide us upper edge and ensure sustainability within the global dynamic market irrespective of how in-depth knowledge you have of the core fundamentals of Supply chain.
