Unlocking children Potential: The Power of Early Childhood Learning of African ancient wisdom storytelling.

As we approach the month of February and #blackhistorymonth, let's reflect on how we could nurture the brilliance of children and positively impact their development to adults that are champions of inclusion and diversity.?

At WeAreBokoboKids , we believe that the right to education is fundamental to an individual’s ability to learn and empower themselves, but if we look closer we realize that the invisible hurdle? lies in the lack of? equity which significantly impacts their access to nurture a future proof life where gender or color will not be an obstacle.

Our stories offer a unique opportunity to bridge the gap between generations, fostering a sense of belonging and care for the other. By sharing African folktales with children in early childhood we impart invaluable knowledge about the rich tapestry culture of Africa and by extension African-Descendant people. Not only do these stories teach important life lessons such as encouraging critical thinking, they also? foster a deep sense of cultural identity.?

We have been? visiting schools in Spain, Switzerland , The Netherlands, to immerse children in a storytelling session? and we need your support to bring our commitment to the next step in 2024!?

?According to a recent study by the United Nations, African descendant children are disproportionately affected by discriminatory practices within educational systems. This discrimination manifests in various ways, including:

• Lower enrollment rates and higher dropout rates

• Limited representation in advanced academic programs
• Biassed treatment from teachers and peers

These disparities not only perpetuate a cycle of inequality but also hinder the social and economic progress of the entire world.

What We're Doing to really impact children's education:

Here are a few concrete actions we are taking:

1. We gather authentic African stories and translate them? into books that accurately represent the history, wisdom and contributions of African descendants throughout centuries.
2. With our team, we have been working on developing an educational approach that integrates 5 core pillars as key factors for holistic growth, well-being, and talent development.
3. We are promoting diversity and inclusion within educational institutions through policies and initiatives: In 2023, we will have participated in more than 10 educational workshops where we have shared our stories and engaged with children.
4. We are Supporting organisations working towards eliminating discrimination and promoting equal access to education: We actively support and join forces with non-governmental organisations as well as key players such as Natives founded by?@Lucia Gonzalez Navarette
5. Our authors, illustrators and contributors have been selected with great care, sharing the same vision and mission to change the narratives. They are supporting us in spreading the light of the “Ubuntu” philosophy by allowing us to publish their story.?

Incredible humans, like Diwele Molale Lubi, a performing art expert from South Africa who has initiated us on the true meaning of the Ubuntu philosophy. His book “khoi-khoi, the voice of the south, will be available very soon in our plateform.
