At Insight, we believe the continuous development of our leaders is crucial to our culture and a pivotal element to our high-performance organisation. As many of our leaders are now only “visible virtually”, thinking of the long term of leadership and leadership skills has become essential.
Along with our regular leadership training, we, therefore, decided on a new practical learning approach to how we harness the hands-on experiences and valuable lessons gained through many of our business situations, project and strategic priorities.
In a 15-20-minute conversation every two weeks, we record an unscripted video interview with a different leader, building on the recent leadership learning they have had from these various activities and situations.
These recordings are then published on our Intranet together with useful links to articles or other learning material on the discussed topic accessible for everyone to explore and digest. Encouraging others to stay current with their learnings is done through transparent leadership role modelling. The videos are a way for our teammates to enhance their learning and to receive useful tips from their peers.
I thoroughly enjoy making these short videos with Magali Dolo who heads up the leadership development discipline in my team. It is powerful to see how essential lessons are giving useful insights into how a leader develops throughout their leadership journey, how they apply what they learn in training and through new experiences in their everyday practices.
“Those people who develop the ability to continuously acquire new and better forms of knowledge that they can apply to their work and to their lives will be the movers and shakers in our society for the indefinite future.”
