Unlock Your Life…..How Do You Measure Success?

In?several?conversations with friends,?mentors, and leaders,?we've?discussed?how people individually measure success. We?have?all heard,?at?some?point,?that success is determined by?money,?and/or?by?job?title. Unfortunately, we live in a world where many people believe this?wholeheartedly.?It doesn't matter if?you?have an abundance of money in the bank, are?one?of?the?most powerful executives?within your industry,?you can still be unsuccessful. Perhaps?you're?wondering?how?this?could?even?be?possible.?Let's break it down. I believe?determining?individual success?is?based on?four key?elements: internal happiness, financial stability, health, and work-life balance.

?Internal Happiness:??

The first words that comes to mind is “Self-Acceptance.” It's?crucial to?always?strive?to be the best version of yourself. There were times when I idolized others and wanted to?emulate?their?success?or?way of thinking. In?constant self-evaluation, I quickly realized this?wasn't?the?best?approach. As?a rule,?I?try?to stay in control of my happiness and be mindful of?situations?that can?lead?to?negative?emotions?or thoughts. You may wonder is happiness something you can really control.?In?fact,?there are?many?people who have implemented strategies and methods?to secure a greater chance of happiness.?The pursuit of?happiness is?desirable and beneficial;?whatever?enhances?this?experience?can only be a wonderful thing.

Financial Stability:

Are you tired of living paycheck to paycheck??This is a question we often hear in today’s workforce. Once your financials are stabilized, you will feel more balanced and in synced. Have you ever smiled when paying bills or feel extremely joyful when paying them on time? It’s hard to explain, but there’s an overwhelming feeling of joy when you are free of debt.?You’re saving money for future intentions, and you feel more focused.?But don’t misconstrue my words, being financially stable isn’t about having wealth; it’s about living comfortably and adapting a different mentality.?Once you are financially stable, you can focus on more important things within your life.?Things like starting a new business or saving for your children’s college tuition.?Everyone should strive to experience the kind of peace financial freedom brings.?

Health:

Mental and Physical health are big influences with measuring success.?If your mental or physical health swing out of balance, you could possibly suffer.?Understanding how our bodies and minds work together or against each other strengthens your ability to make positive life choices.?In fact, there are several signs that your mental and physical health is declining, such as: change in sleeping or eating patterns, mood swings, loss of energy, or decrease in work performance.?The word "Self-Care" immediately comes to mind when I think of mental and physical health. Self-care is any action that you take to improve or preserve your current mental state or to improve your mental health in general.?Activities that foster self-care serve two primary purposes - setting healthy boundaries and developing the ability to deal with obstacles in life.

Here are two tips to help improve your health:

1.???Establishing a schedule and routine based on adequate sleep. An inadequate amount of sleep may weaken the immune system, reduce performance, and harm your health overall.?

2.???Eat healthier and exercise.?Modern consumers are drawn to fast food and online shopping because they are both quick and convenient. As a result, these practices negatively impact our overall wellbeing. Taking care of your mind and body can be difficult but exercising and eating right can help.???

In the end, being healthy is a crucial goal we all should strive to achieve.?

Work-Life Balance:

Work-life balance, oh the necessity; I always seem to struggle with this topic. The difficulty of balancing work and family life is something workaholics like myself face all the time. In fact, failing to maintain a work-life balance can hinder your success. Even if you achieve success in your career and attain great financial prosperity, your home life can be drastically impacted. Often, I wonder if it's possible to maintain a good work-life balance. Particularly for people like me who are career focused. I believe multitasking is comparable to work-life balance it’s more myth than reality. Nevertheless, there are those who have mastered it. Several individuals have been able to coexist successfully on both sides of the fence. As we discussed earlier in this article, success in any endeavor relies on plans and or methods. To accomplish work-life balance, we must take the same approach.?

?Listed below are a few tips I found beneficial:?

  1. Honoring work schedules and not working pass cut off times.?
  2. Taking vacations and retreats away from work.
  3. Spending quality time with friends and family.?
  4. This is an absolute must. Ensure you take time to care for yourself. It is extremely important to take time out for yourself and keep your mind and body refresh.

The art of mastering work-life balance takes time, but the results are well worth the effort. If you need help, check out some online time management software. These programs will track your daily tasks and keep you focused.?

Finally, here are five guidelines I find useful for my success:

  1. Knowing and understanding your values is essential. Most motivated individuals tend to focus exclusively on the execution of a plan, without taking the time to think about what they are going to do first.
  2. Comparing yourself to yourself is the only thing that matters.?Quit comparing your success with others.
  3. Success isn't achieved overnight. Remember to fail forward.
  4. Take care of your mind and body and it will take care of you.
  5. ?Don't get discouraged, just keep swimming and you will get there.??
