Unlock Your Leadership Potential This September

Unlock Your Leadership Potential This September

In the dynamic fields of communications and marketing, leaders often face unique challenges that can leave them feeling isolated and undervalued. But what if you could join a community of peers who understand these challenges and are committed to growing together? This is the promise of the Future-Ready Leaders Collective (FRLC).

As we prepare for the FRCL September cohort, I wanted to recap key highlights from our stories and invite you to join me on this exciting leadership journey.

Overcoming Isolation through Cohort Learning

As the sole senior communications leader, I often felt isolated. My peers didn’t fully grasp the complexity of leading a communications team. This sense of isolation is familiar to many of us. When we bring together communications and marketing leaders for meaningful discussions and learning, the biggest takeaway is, “I’m not alone.” This realization brings comfort, knowing they have a peer group who face similar challenges and understand the dynamics of leading a communications/marketing team.

Lisa Fraser, Corporate Communications Manager at KGS Group and FRLC alumni, shared, “Learning together with other marketing communications leaders made for an inspiring, impactful nine-month journey. I feel better equipped to lead my team into the future.”

The Profound Responsibility of Leadership

In my career as a communicator, I experienced the deep impact of good leadership and how it helped me grow. Leaders are the heartbeat of any organization. They set the tone, shape the culture, and create the conditions for people to flourish. By leading well, we can transform lives, inspire change, and drive success. New data from a study by the Workforce Institute shows that our leaders have more impact on our mental health than a therapist or doctor—and it’s equal to the impact of a spouse or partner. This underscores the profound responsibility of leadership.

Another FRLC alum, Patrick Gill, Director of Marketing and Business Development at Tourism Richmond, offered, “This program has enhanced my leadership skills and ignited my passion for and commitment to learning. It's also equipped me to lead myself and my team with trust, empathy, positivity, agility, and resilience.”

The Journey to Business Leadership

As communications and marketing leaders, how often is our craft misunderstood, undervalued, or underused? For many of us, the height of our career is when we are finally equal partners at the senior leadership table, contributing full value, impacting direction, and hitting goals. However, when promoted as leaders, we often don’t get the support and training needed to make this leap.

As Libby Brown, Senior Director of Communications & Engagement at PHSA and FRLC alumni, expressed, “As a senior communicator, you’ve got the craft nailed by now, but if you want to dial into what kind of leader you are and want to be, this program is the place to tap into that. Leading well requires new and different skills. It takes thought and intention.”

Join Us and Transform Your Leadership

Our next cohort begins on September 11th, and applications are open until August 21st. We are already over 50% full, so now is the perfect time to secure your spot. This nine-month leadership journey is designed specifically for senior communications and marketing leaders. It is more than just a course—it's a transformative experience where you will grow alongside other leaders, learning from each other's experiences and building lasting connections.
