Unlock Your Leadership Potential: Clarity and AI Habits for Success

Unlock Your Leadership Potential: Clarity and AI Habits for Success

Ever wonder why your team's performance doesn't match their potential? The answer might be simpler - and more important - than you realize.?

I recently coached a young professional drowning in her new global role. Her company was expanding into new markets, chasing innovation and growth. The problem? A lack of clarity.?

My talented client spent her days tackling low-value tasks, filling gaps far above her pay grade, and feeling confused. Why? Undefined roles and murky expectations.?

The truth is, that often in our rush to expand and innovate, we neglect the basics. So, before you critique your team's performance, ask yourself: Have you provided the clarity they need to succeed?

The truth is, that often in our rush to expand and innovate, we neglect the basics. So, before you critique your team's performance, ask yourself: Have you provided the clarity they need to succeed?

This isn’t dissimilar to what many people and companies are facing with AI adoption. Global data (depending on which reports you’re looking at) show low uptake of AI technologies across industries. As a recovering technophobe, I understand this hesitation. Changing “how we do things” and outsourcing tasks to AI can feel VERY uncomfortable.

But here's the reality: AI is already reshaping our workplace, whether we actively engage with it or not. Many organizations are facing a clarity crisis. They lack a clear AI strategy or fail to communicate it effectively to their staff or both. This leaves employees uncertain and resistant.

To help address this widespread uncertainty, I've created "The AI Habit: 10 Actions to Take" blueprint (downloadable via the link in my profile). This short, practical guide is designed to help people move past initial AI hesitation and build consistent, growth-oriented AI Habits.

In his book "Atomic Habits," James Clear argues that our daily routines largely determine our success. For AI adoption, this translates to:?

Clarity + Consistent Habits = AI-Empowered Professionals

Let's break this down into actionable steps:

1. The Clarity Imperative:

  • Clearly define your current role and identify specific ways AI can enhance it
  • Set transparent, measurable goals for AI learning and implementation
  • Schedule regular check-ins to reassess and adjust your AI adoption strategy

2. The Habit Formation:

  • ?? - Implement a daily two-minute (it can be longer) "AI exploration" habit (e.g., read one AI-related article)
  • ?? - Dedicate time each week to reflect on AI learnings and potential applications in your work
  • ?? - Conduct monthly progress checks to celebrate small wins and fine-tune your approach

3. Overcoming Resistance:

  • Challenge assumptions by starting small: Try one AI-assisted task per week – if possible make it fun (holiday in Italy, anyone?)
  • Cultivate curiosity: Subscribe to an AI newsletter and commit to skimming the headlines daily
  • Develop a growth mindset: Keep an "AI Wins" journal to document learning experiences, even perceived failures

Your success in navigating new roles or embracing AI hinges on your ability to create clarity amid change and build habits that drive consistent growth. It's not about perfection, but progress.

What's your biggest obstacle to embracing AI at work? Is it a lack of knowledge, fear of job displacement, or something else? What small, two-minute habit could you start today to chip away at that resistance?

Share your thoughts in the comments. In this era of rapid technological change, let's learn from each other and build more resilient, future-ready careers.

Don't forget to download "AI Essentials: From Resistance to Results" a step-by-step guide to building your AI skills. It's time to move from AI anxiety to AI empowerment, one small habit at a time.?

I have a favor to ask, could you take the next 37 seconds to fill out this quick survey? I would greatly appreciate it.

Started experimenting with a different verbal cue few months ago. By replacing "can't now" with "how now". Nothing has exploded or shattered yet. I take that as very positive signs and will keep on experimenting.??
