?? WHAT'S NEW

At StackState, our mission is to make your work easier and more effective. We're excited to share a series of updates that directly respond to your feedback and the evolving needs of the tech landscape.

OpenTelemetry Support for Any Technology enables you to ingest any trace, whether you're using Kubernetes or not, and automatically get:

  • OpenTelemetry Service Map & Overview: Gain access to a comprehensive Service Map and Resource Map, showcasing resource dependencies such as queues or databases. This feature simplifies tracing the root causes of system behavior changes, facilitating quick issue identification and resolution. With this comprehensive view, you can uphold high performance and reliability throughout your systems. The Map is automatically constructed after instrumenting your applications with OpenTelemetry (auto)instrumentation

  • OpenTelemetry Service Instance Map & Overview: Easily overview all running service instances and directly access their key metrics and programming language details. This in-depth insight enables you to monitor individual instance performance effectively, ensuring the timely resolution of any issues to uphold optimal service delivery.

  • OpenTelemetry Database Overview: Effortlessly access all observed databases to monitor their state, behavior, and the services utilizing them. This functionality enables you to closely monitor database performance, safeguarding data integrity and availability. Proactive monitoring helps prevent database-related issues before they impact your applications.
  • Mini Charts on the Component Popover: Easily access current behavior insights of any component by hovering over it, revealing key metrics such as Rate, Errors, and Duration (RED metrics) for services. This feature provides a quick snapshot of performance, helping you identify issues at a glance. For detailed trend analysis, simply click on the underlined number to access the complete graph and underlying PromQL query

  • Health Timeline and Three Key Metrics: From the right-hand side, select any component within the topology to view its health status during the current telemetry time interval. This timeline view helps you understand historical performance and quickly identify periods of instability, allowing you to take proactive measures to maintain system health.

TIPS & TRICKS

  • Navigate StackState Like a Pro: When it comes to using (desktop) software in tech, there's always an interesting way to determine if someone is more of a "visual" or a "textual" user. Simply ask, “Which do you prefer, the GUI or the CLI?” If they answer, “I prefer the GUI,” follow up with, “Are you more keyboard-first or more mouse-first?” While it’s not a black-or-white debate, it’s fascinating to see how differently we are wired at a cognitive level. In this post, we'll focus on those who lean towards being more "visual." We will explore StackState's UI and provide tips, tricks, and shortcuts to help you navigate its various dashboards and pages more efficiently. If you’re more of a "textual" user who prefers the CLI, don’t worry — our GitHub repository has you covered. Either way, StackState has tools to enhance your workflow! [Read more]
