Unlock the Power of Your Data

Unlock the Power of Your Data

Dell Technologies recently hosted a broadcast, Unlock the Power of Data, which focused on Artificial Intelligence. We brought together industry leaders and startups with diverse approaches and objectives, but who share a common cause, to push the boundaries of the possible.

The Data Era: An Age of Miracles

You’ve all heard about the Data Era. With the tens of billions of devices in the Internet of Things and the speed of 5G connectivity, data will continue to grow exponentially and indefinitely. Combine that with the powerful algorithms of Artificial Intelligence and all that data becomes the most valuable asset we have.

From bionic vision to autonomous factories, the insights from the rapid application of AI to massive data sets will propel human creativity, understanding and progress to unimaginable heights.

Work, Investment and innovation

The problem is that not all data is good data. Data is messy, duplicated, incomplete, and requires data engineering. Also, our technology infrastructure needs to be AI enabled from the edge, where self-driving cars need real-time answers, to the core of automated, intelligent data centers, to the centralized public clouds where massive and disparate data sets can be analyzed.

Companies will succeed and fail based on their ability to translate data into insights at record speed, which means enabling the movement of relevant data, computing power and algorithms securely and seamlessly across the entire ecosystem. The work, innovation and investment to support that is happening now.

If you’re not already using AI, you’re falling behind

Every customer I meet is reimagining how they use technology to draw value from their data in every aspect of their operations. Those with projects underway are already at an advantage. There will be bumps along the road and lessons learned, but this is a time of the quick and the dead. Don’t end up in category two.

A final thought

AI like all incredibly powerful tools has the potential for good and bad. That makes it something to be treated with a cautious respect and harnessed with intelligence and discipline, but not feared.

As we look ahead to 2030 and beyond, every facet of our lives will integrate deeper, more pervasive and more personal human/machine partnerships than we have ever known. I love the idea of human-machine partnerships because in my mind it’s always been very clear -- it’s not about humans or machines, it’s about humans and machines. And wow! Do we have some powerful new tools in the shed!

Data is everywhere as it is part of technology. I am amazed at how our society has worked a lot to discover new ideas turned into action with the intervention of technology. Artificial Intelligence and Human Intelligence should always be connected as one might not work without the participation of the other. Nice information though!
