Sustainable competitive advantage was recently declared dead. So we can't rest on our laurels. Maybe only the paranoid survive, yet survival is not enough.

Is Open Innovation the key to achieving competitive advantage? Is it possible to sustain such competitive advantage? Open Innovation enables businesses to benefit from other's intellectual property by connecting to networks and eco-systems, empowering businesses to refocus and redirect resources to their core competency. And then executing to deliver business outcomes. The road to innovation is not easy and to open to innovation requires culture change and finding the right business partners inside and outside existing organizational structures. AWS market lead is a good example of unlocking open innovation with over 700 new features and capabilities in 2016.
