Unlock the Full Power of Google Ads with Bulk Actions

In today's newsletter, we're diving into a fantastic new feature in Google Ads that can save you a ton of time: Google Ads Bulk Actions.

Often overlooked, these tools have evolved significantly and can now replace many third-party scripts and paid tools.

I'll guide you through 6 essential bulk actions that can streamline your ad management and boost your campaigns.

1. Accessing Bulk Actions

First things first, let's find where these tools are hidden.

In your Google Ads account, go to Tools and Settings > Bulk Actions > Solutions. Whether you're using the old or new interface, you'll end up in the same place.

2. Account Anomaly Detector

One of the most useful tools is the Account Anomaly Detector. This feature alerts you to significant changes in your account's performance.

Setting It Up:

  • Go to All Solutions and click Create New.
  • Name your anomaly (e.g., Conversion Drop Alert).
  • Set your parameters (e.g., conversions drop below 70% of the historic average over four weeks).
  • Enter your email to receive notifications.
  • Set the frequency to daily or hourly for timely alerts.
  • Authorise the script and save.

Pro Tip: Start with one critical metric to avoid alert fatigue. Too many alerts can cause you to ignore them, missing genuine issues.

3. Link Checker

Broken links can hurt your ad performance. The Link Checker ensures all your URLs are working properly.

Setting It Up:

  • Click Create New.
  • Name your solution (e.g., Link Checker).
  • Keep default settings (check active ad and keyword URLs, not paused ones).
  • Enter your email for error notifications.
  • Set the frequency to daily.
  • Authorise and save.

This simple setup can save you from potential revenue losses due to broken links.

4. Common Negative Keyword List

Managing negative keywords is crucial for keeping your campaigns efficient. The Common Negative Keyword List automates this process.

Setting It Up:

  • Click Create New.
  • Enter your negative keyword lists and apply a custom label.
  • Set the frequency to daily or weekly.
  • Authorise and save.

This tool ensures your negative lists are always applied, preventing costly mistakes.

5. Flexible Budgets

Flexible Budgets can help you manage your ad spend more efficiently, particularly for top-of-funnel campaigns like YouTube Ads.

Setting It Up:

  • Click Create New.
  • Name your campaign and set your budget.
  • Authorise and save.

While not recommended for search or shopping ads, this feature can be useful for maintaining control over your top-of-funnel traffic.

6. Ad Performance and Account Summary

These tools generate automatic reports on your ad performance and account summary.

Ad Performance:

  • Generates a templated report of your ad performance.
  • Limited customisation, but a good starting point for beginners.

Account Summary:

  • Creates a report summarising your account's performance.
  • Better reporting can be achieved with Looker Studio or Google Sheets.

That’s it for this week!

These bulk actions not only streamline your Google Ads management but also free up your time for more strategic tasks. By automating routine checks and alerts, you can focus on optimising your campaigns and growing your business.
