Achieving sales mastery is a continuous journey rather than a final destination. However, developing a sales mastery mindset and creating a sales mastery environment within our organisation is something we can all do. The key to ongoing sales success lies in establishing sales performance standards, implementing sales development programs, and providing continuous learning opportunities for salespeople by shifting our focus to creating continuous learning cultures designed to help people flourish and work towards sales mastery.

Warning: Achieving the pinnacle of sales mastery as a final destination is impossible. There I said it. While we’re never going to reach perfection, having a sales mastery mindset enables many of us to keep striving to be better at what we do, especially in such a multifaceted career as sales. This is, in part, what Selling Better is about: a journey of constant adaption, iteration, and evolution – a journey towards sales mastery. While most people are thrown in the deep end when they start out in their sales careers, mastering the knowledge, skills and mindset of the sales profession and achieving sales success doesn’t happen by accident.
Smart organisations know that creating a Sales Mastery environment – establishing standards of sales performance including articulated selling-buying processes that outline the steps, behaviours, and activities we need to see in successful salespeople, then rolling out leader-led sales development programs over time that continually train and coach their salespeople to these standards- is the key to their ongoing sales success.
Whether we are aware of it or not we are learning every day so why not take advantage of this and make learning how to master sales more deliberate and conscious? If we make space for ongoing learning and evolution in our daily work developing a sales mastery mindset and sales mastery capabilities becomes possible for everyone.
As we say to our sales leaders and managers when training and coaching them in how to coach and train their sales teams, you’re not always coaching but you can always coach. Everything can be a coachable opportunity and it doesn’t have to be formal or in a classroom.
It’s time we shift our focus to creating continuous learning cultures that are designed to help people flourish and work towards sales mastery.

I FOUND THE FS!!!
I had a business case presentation this afternoon to take a pilot client to full roll out and I opened with WWW. The Director and Head of Retail paused, looked at each other and then spoke openly for the next 10 minutes while I took notes.
At the risk of turning it into TLDR, the result is a $84K deal being drawn up and a full roll out before Christmas.
Thanks for your session, wisdom and concepts – came at a perfect time for me and definitely is already being put to good use and helping me shut up and listen.
