Today, I want us to dive into the insights and transformative learnings from the book "The First 90 Days" while drawing inspiration from a powerful experience I had this week with my nine-year-old son, Anthony, and six years daughter, Aya, during their open house before the first day of school.
As parents, we constantly seek ways to support and nurture our children's growth. It was during this open house that I witnessed something truly remarkable: a process that was not only neat and organized but also incredibly effective. It reminded me of the power of CONSISTENT SIMPLICITY and its impact on our lives.
Walking through the school, I noticed the walls adorned with beautiful quotes, teachings, and messages. Each message, though simple in its nature, carried immense power. These words of wisdom were strategically placed as gentle reminders of the values and principles the school aimed to instill in its students. The experience sparked a thought-provoking question in my mind: "Why can't the workplace be like that?" Imagine an environment where the physical space becomes one for personal and professional growth. In this place, walls whisper words of encouragement, where values are boldly displayed, and where employees are consistently reminded of the importance of their contributions.
This question resonated deeply with me, fueling my passion for creating a workplace culture that fosters a sense of belonging and inspires individuals to unleash their full potential.
Let’s note some impactful wisdom to the workplace my kids will be exposed to in their classroom. The teachings of sharing, collaboration, empathy, and curiosity form the foundation of early childhood education and hold invaluable lessons for professionals of all levels. Embracing these principles fosters a culture of teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving, where individuals are encouraged to support one another, think outside the box, and approach challenges with a sense of wonder.
This consistency and simplicity in teaching have always been intentional. Much like the first 90 days, building a thriving workplace culture requires intentional steps and a commitment to continuous improvement. Just as children embark on their educational journey with small, repetitive tasks, so must organizations begin their cultural transformation with baby steps. It is through these seemingly simple actions that lasting change is achieved.
