Unleashing the Power of Heart-Centered Humanity

On the first day of Black History Month, I am taking some time to pause and hold a moment of silence to honor and remember all of those who have lost their lives due to police brutality. Today is the funeral for Tyre Nichols, a young man who lost his life too soon. He was a father and a son, with such a contagious smile. For me personally, today is a reminder that we have more work to do to create a just and equitable society.?
Beyond today, I hope we continue to celebrate Black History Month by leading with our hearts and focusing on the humanity that unites us. I plan to engage in more conversations, remaining curious and open-minded. I believe the ethos of connection and compassion can cultivate a sense of belonging that will help me show up as a more empathetic leader.
I also plan to read more and watch inspiring content such as the 1619 Project, from Pulitzer Prize winning author Nikole Hannah-Jones on Hulu. I want to be more intentional about taking time to hear the stories of others, learn more about history, and consider what I can do to amplify the impact I have in the DEI space.?
It is only through the understanding of our shared history that we can combat social injustice and create a safer space for marginalized groups. I encourage you to dedicate time to have a courageous dialogue with those who are different from you. As we lean into this new month, let’s strive to move towards action in creating a space where we promote harmony, a deeper sense of humanity, resulting in more love and compassion for all mankind.?
Comment below. What are you doing this month to lead with compassion and heart-centered humanity?
