Unleashing the Power of CAD Collaboration with Wikifactory for Desktop

Unleashing the Power of CAD Collaboration with Wikifactory for Desktop

In the fast-paced world of engineering and design moving towards digital transformation, collaboration is key. Yet, the tools we rely on often fall short, leading to fragmented workflows, unnecessary costs, and delays that stifle innovation.

Recognizing these challenges, Wikifactory embarked on a mission to transform how engineers teams work together with their teams and supply chains.

Today, we're proud to announce a significant leap forward in our journey: the launch of Wikifactory for Desktop.

A Journey of Collaboration and Innovation

Nearly nine months of dedicated customer-led development, in close collaboration with 35 remarkable hardware startups, engineering consultancies, and student associations, have led up to the release. Together, driven by our mission to eliminate the challenges of fragmented workflows that amplify costs, introduce delays, and heighten supply-chain risks.

Overcoming CAD Collaboration Challenges from CAD to Manufacturing

Our engagement with the community highlighted two significant areas of concern:

  • File Management Across Engineering Teams: The power of CAD tools often came with the caveat of cumbersome file management, leading to potential conflicts and the risk of losing critical work.
  • Interdepartmental and Supply Chain Alignment: The limitations of existing Product Data Management tools, compounded by their cost and steep learning curve, necessitated a more streamlined approach to file sharing and review processes.

Introducing Wikifactory for Desktop

Wikifactory for Desktop is our response to these challenges.

Available for both Windows and MacOS, it seamlessly integrates with your workflow, connecting your Wikifactory Workspace with local folders to and from the Cloud and across your team's devices.

This launch builds upon our existing CAD Rooms' collaborative environment, which already supports over 90% of CAD formats, to offer a comprehensive solution that simplifies file management and enhances team communication.

What's new?

Wikifactory for Desktop brings a host of features designed with your workflow in mind:

  • Seamless File Syncing: Connect your projects to a local folder on your device for continuous syncing with the Cloud, ensuring that your team always works from the latest version.
  • Enhanced Collaboration: Share your work effortlessly with your team, add comments, and track changes with ease.
  • Advanced Version Control: Manage revisions and resolve conflicts with our intuitive version control system, choosing between the latest local changes or the cloud version.
