Unleashing Innovation: Reflections on Day 1 of EIT Deep Tech Talent Skills Days 2024

It was very exciting to come together in Warsaw, Poland, for the EIT Deep Tech Talent Skills Days 2024. This event brought together visionaries, innovators, and pioneers from diverse backgrounds, all united by a commitment to shaping the future of deep tech across Europe and beyond. The first day set a high bar, marked by a strong sense of community and shared purpose as we explored breakthroughs and challenges in the deep tech landscape.

The day featured insightful sessions on quantum computing and cybersecurity, key areas shaping our technological future. Talks on quantum computing explored its revolutionary potential while cybersecurity discussions emphasized the critical need for global collaboration to strengthen digital resilience.

Key panel discussions delved into Deep Tech Talent Development, Entrepreneurship and Impact, and the Influence of AI on Talent and Training. These panels highlighted strategies for cultivating the next generation of tech leaders and creating pathways for entrepreneurial ventures within deep tech. The discussions on AI’s role in shaping talent acquisition and training underscored the importance of adaptive approaches to education and workforce development, ensuring alignment with industry demands.

A major highlight was the announcement of the EIT Deep Tech Talent Initiative Call for Training Proposals 2024 Results: Showcasing Successful Proposals, where our trust4future project was selected as one of the top 15 projects from a competitive field of 97. This recognition for our collaboration between Edinburgh Napier University, Istanbul Blockchain Women, and Tages RDI underscored our dedication to building a safer, more resilient future through cybersecurity and digital trust. This achievement represents not just support but a shared belief in the power of collaboration and innovation to drive lasting impact. Another cybersecurity project from Turkey was also selected as the project of Istanbul Geli?im University.

Meeting with inspiring individuals from the EIT Deep Tech Talent community was a true highlight. These interactions, filled with insights and diverse perspectives, reinforced the transformative potential of deep tech—not just in terms of technology, but in empowering people and communities on a global scale.

The first day was a powerful reminder of the importance of this work and the strength of the community supporting it. I look forward to the days ahead, as these connections and ideas continue to grow, fueling the next generation of deep tech talent and solutions.
