As I came off the adrenaline high as the lockdown took hold, I realized I was exhausted.

The exhaustion came from being in perpetual motion - from constantly hunting speaking gigs, grabbing a flight every week, getting home to do laundry, and repacking it as soon as it was dry.

The constant view of my suitcase at the door was foreboding of the next trip coming.

I had been so busy chasing the dream, fueled by adrenaline, that I had completely neglected to check-in - with myself and my business.

Go-go-go was actually just digging me into a hole.

Each gig wasn't producing a ton of clients so there was not a lot of positive cashflow at the end of each trip for the hours on planes, hunting gigs, and preparing to speak.

It was exhausting - mentally, physically, and emotionally - not only traveling but having to "bring it" with my keynotes and vulnerable presentations, creating impact while I was on stage.

Before the shutdown, I couldn't even see how taxing this chosen path had been.

When that suitcase was no longer there, the stress in my body palpably dissipated.

When I had headspace to take a step back and evaluate what I had been doing, I wondered how many people took the learnings I spent hours crafting and applied them to transform their life in any small form?

A handful, if any?

A year and a half into the pandemic, I was requested to start speaking again, and I realized how much less impact I created on stage for so much more effort vs. from home, sitting in front of my computer, connecting online.

I know it sounds counter-intuitive, but the truth is in the numbers and it was hard to unsee.

I grew my company from 2.5 to 14 full time employees 10 months into the pandemic to keep up with the demand.

How?

I took all the energy, a fraction of the time, and preparation I allotted each week for traveling, hunting gigs, preparing lectures and speaking and put that effort into just getting clients.

As a result, I scaled my impact because I was accessible to anyone, anywhere in the world who was a right fit for my services.

I got to focus on showing up consistently, narrowing my niche of genius, and sharing the best I had to offer.

I got to see my online audience engagement grow as I had more touch points with them, was more accessible because of the lack of traveling gobbling up hours, and those audience members were trackable.

My email list grew as I offered programs that people signed up for to gain access to me, so I had the ability to personally follow up as well as market to these people.

Having time with my audience in small zoom gatherings allowed me to gain so much more insight into what my ideal clients needed because I was no longer speaking at them.

Instead, I was now having intimate and revealing conversations with them - a very different feeling than facilitating a conversation in a room with a thousand people in it.

It was clear that speaking from the stage had me feeling so disconnected and unsure whether my hard work really had any impact.

Working online has me more in-tune, connected and quantifiably unleashing exponentially more impact in clients' lives.

The pandemic created a normalcy in creating impact online thus making online platforms the gold mines of today.
