We transform mobility for everyone?

When we introduced Siemens Xcelerator in 2022, we promised a new era of digital collaboration in the rail industry. At this year’s InnoTrans, we live up to that promise and present use cases showing how our customers are already experience the transformative power of this ecosystem. From more modular software solutions to new APIs and cloud-based innovations, Siemens Xcelerator is driving the digitalization of rail. Learn how we are delivering on our promises in various use cases presented inside a mock-up of a new carriage for Munich’s regional rail.?

The rail industry plays a pivotal role in reducing society’s carbon footprint, and digitalization is at the heart of this effort. By optimizing maintenance, maximizing infrastructure use and enhancing passenger experiences, we unleash additional digitally-enabled rail capacity.??

?One of the main challenges to digitalization has been the vast amount of data trapped in closed systems. Siemens Xcelerator addresses this with standardized APIs and AI-driven tools that allow data to connect with cutting-edge analysis and evaluation systems.?

Collaborative innovation for the future of rail?

While there will be lots of use cases of our tools at our booth, the full potential of Siemens Xcelerator is most vividly incorporated in our centerpiece exhibit: the mock-up of a future München S-Bahn carriage. This project exemplifies how our open ecosystem allows for unprecedented collaboration among specialists.?

?From fleet control to core functions and on-train applications, different specialists are able to bring in their expertise for unprecedented collaboration. Examples of new digitalization features include:?


  • Remote train wake-up, eliminating 30 minutes of unproductive time from the beginning of drivers’ shifts?

  • Remote software updates, so trains can stay in operation and not have to be blocked in the depot for manual updates?

  • ATO over ETCS, so the new München S-Bahn trains are also fit for the rail traffic of the future, e.g. GoA2 for improved punctuality and operational stability?


Intriguingly, our open ecosystem also allows for a unique form of collaboration on Munich’s regional trains: some of the technologies are provided by Siemens Mobility directly, others developed by the operator or even competitors. What’s most important is our shared goal: to promote rail as the best and most sustainable mode of travel for everyone, attractive for business stakeholders and passengers alike.?

How about evolving to the creation of a value added 'Digital Twin' product and service? Rolls Royce did this when they introduced a new type of jet engine. The true value of a Digital Twin was realized when and astronaut said 'Houston we have a problem our oxygen system stopped working". Houston replicated the problem on their Digital Twin, which was developed to help training. The experimented to find the best solution and trained ground staff how to fix it. When the astronauts got the instructions they fixed their problem with no problem. Seems to me AI will help reduce the cost of doing this and also create a life long improvement process. One that adds value and uniqueness to your train transport business. As it did to the Rolls Royce air engine business.

Iposible im not coming in person,because of financial problems,I need a job ASAP,so I wait again of days or month,we have a notice from the landlord about our house rent.now if I wait of 1 months maybe we sleep at the waiting shed I got some email from the other company.
