Unleash the October GYMHA Global Newsletter for the hottest updates! ??

Dear Esteemed Members and Supporters,

Welcome to the October edition of our monthly global newsletter, presented by the GYMHA Incorporated, Australia team. We are delighted to share with you some exciting content that we hope will inspire you. This month edition, we’re dedicating it to World Mental Health Day (WMHD) on October 10, 2024.

As we observe World Mental Health Day on October 10, it is essential to recognize the profound impact of mental health on our workplaces, communities, and overall societal well-being. This year's theme, championed by the World Federation of Mental Health, emphasizes the urgent need to address mental health and wellbeing in the workplace - a significant setting where individuals spend a substantial portion of their lives.

Research indicates that nearly one in five adults experiences mental illness each year, and in the workplace, this can translate to decreased productivity, increased absenteeism, and higher turnover rates. The economic implications are staggering; studies estimate that mental health conditions cost the global economy approximately $1 trillion annually in lost productivity. By fostering a supportive work environment that prioritizes mental health, organizations can enhance not only individual wellbeing but also operational efficiency and community resilience.

At GYMHA, we believe that mental health is not just a personal concern but a fundamental human right that deserves attention and action. Our mission extends beyond advocacy; we are committed to equipping individuals and organizations with the knowledge and resources necessary to create environments where mental health is prioritized and stigma is dismantled.

This October, we invite you to reflect on the importance of mental health in your own life and workplace. Together, let’s champion the cause, advocate for change, and strive for a society where everyone can thrive mentally, emotionally, and professionally. Your engagement is crucial in this movement toward mental health equity.

Thank you for being an integral part of our community. Your support fuels our mission, and we look forward to sharing insightful resources, stories, and strategies to empower you and those around you.

Warm regards,

GYMHA Team

We Have Lost Our Memories,..And Things Are Falling Apart

By Dr. Sunny Oby Maduka (DSM)?

Independent Newspaper Saturday, Sept 28, 2024.

?Last two weeks, I did state that there were many things that were on my mind, and today, let me start off with my second phase of those thoughts, and maybe, we can correct certain abnormal thoughts of thinking that praising a brother or sister should always be a treasure of a racial affiliation. That’s why I have decided to take a cue from all Nigerians to sincerely congratulate a great Nigerian, now a British citizen, Professor Dapo Akande, who has just been nominated by the UK government on the 6th September, 2024, for election as a judge of the international court of Justice.

?Before I delve into the topic, let me share a story. In Africa, when a child is doing well, the child is appreciated and approved as A COMMUNITY CHILD, but when the child becomes a threat to the community, the child’s parents are accused of bad parenting. Anyway, let me go straight to my story, and this story is a true life narration.
