Unlearning: 'Santa Style' Leadership

Unlearning: 'Santa Style' Leadership

Your ‘Old School’ Boss is Coming… to Your Desk

(Sing to the tune of ‘Santa Claus is Coming to Town’)

You better watch out,

You better not cry,

Better not pout, I'm telling you why:

Your old school boss is comin' to your desk…

He's making a list

And checking it twice,

Gonna find out Who's naughty and nice.

Your ‘old school’ boss is comin’ to your desk…

He wants to see you working,

He wants to know you are awake,

He knows if you've clocked in or out,

Don’t leave that desk - for goodness sake!

You better watch out,

You better not cry,

Better not pout,

I'm telling you why:

Your ‘old school’ boss is comin' to your desk.

Note: When I came up with the idea for this little ditty, I thought I would have to change a lot of the lyrics. However, when I sat down to write it, I realised how few changes were needed. To a song about Santa. The similarities between ‘old school’ leadership and the Santa story are a little too close for my comfort.

To my women colleagues: I am really hoping he does NOT ask you to sit on his lap at the holiday get together though. Given the pass male leaders are being given on their behaviour right now, I have no idea which way things could go this year…

Best wishes for your holidays y’all! :)

Lovely take! I recommend replacing Santa Clause with SANTA PAUSE. "For the holidays this year here’s a new cause. This year celebrate the season with Santa Pause. She doesn’t have a long beard that’s white, She’s not coming down your chimney in the middle of the night. She’s not leaving presents under your tree. But she has a special gift for you and for me. She invites you to reflect on what’s yet to come The Future you are building - the one that’s just begun. About this future there are no facts, You create it through your decisions and acts. What happens next is not preordained, Neither by the past or future are you constrained..... Continued in reply
