"Alvin Toffler once said, 'The illiterate of the 21st century will not be those who cannot read and write. They will be those who cannot learn, unlearn, and relearn.' His words, penned in 1970, resonate more than ever in today's era of rapid transformation.
Recently completing an AI Entrepreneur Micro-school with @GeniusU has me still marvelling at the explosive growth of generative AI. Giddy with a mix of fear and excitement, I crafted a new (AI-generated) social media calendar, ad pages, email sequences and images, navigating various writing voices and word counts--all in a matter of hours.
Amidst occasional overwhelm, my 'virtual assistant' became an indispensable ally, providing unlimited revisions, plus bringing relief and amazement as I completed one assignment after another. I have to admit, at times I had an almost eerie feeling that I was in the company of a non-judgmental, brilliant friend. Was it because I was writing "please" and "thank you" in my prompts?
Surprisingly, only 8% of internet users globally engage with generative AI, with nearly half in the US. Conversations with friends and family often reveal reluctance and fear of AI. I, too, felt apprehensive initially but now engage in polite interactions with AI--perhaps hoping that pleasantness will help AI like humans!
As we traverse the AI landscape, Toffler's wisdom echoes—our ability to learn, unlearn, and relearn is paramount. Let's unlearn the belief that schools should prioritize computation, memorization, and literacy, as AI excels in these domains. Instead, let's relearn the value of our humanity.

I believe we all need experiences that help us develop self-awareness, self-mastery and self-expression to successfully collaborate with AI. For millennia, mechanical innovations have helped liberate humans from physically taxing activities. With AI, there's the potential to liberate the human mind from tedious tasks so that we can practise connecting our hearts, hands and minds beyond the yoga mat and into our daily lives with creativity and deeper connections to ourselves, each other and our world.
In the realm of HR, where talent is at the heart of organizational success, embracing AI opens doors to unprecedented possibilities. Imagine leveraging generative technologies to not only streamline processes but to truly understand and nurture the unique talents within each team.
My journey into the world of AI has been eye-opening, and I'm curious to hear from HR and other professionals. How are you incorporating AI into your talent management or business strategies? What challenges and triumphs have you encountered? Let's spark a dialogue that transcends fears and embraces the potential for innovation in this limitless landscape of growth opportunities.
Join me in exploring the limitless intersection of humanity and technology. Together, let's redefine how we can cultivate and embolden the workforce. Feel free to share your insights in the comments, and let's propel humans into the exciting future that awaits us!"

1 年I appreciate AI in a limited way. It helps my distance clients make practical arrangements through email with fewer misunderstandings due to first language interferences. However, it can also leave them with a false sense of security, and lack of appreciation for the necessity of frequent repetition and self correction when learning English. AI's strength is in production, not attention to process, which is the key to effective speaking and listening.
