UNLEARN TO LEARN

UNLEARN TO LEARN

In the past, people said, “We keep learning till death.”

Usually, when I start any business workshop, group session, or training, I begin by inviting the audience with a small sentence saying, "Unlearn to Learn." Many people think when they hear it that it's just a couple of words that I used for showing off, or maybe I said that by mistake, so they don't give attention to it. But in fact, "Unlearn to Learn" is an essential skill that all professionals need to have if they want to keep improving their capabilities, and without it, they will be stuck for a long time or maybe to the end of their career life without adding that much to their knowledge.

"Unlearn to Learn" also contain other powerful hidden skills, which are "deep listening" and "asking questions" this combination of personal mastery is always making the person maximize the values out of any learning session. Because the person who has this skill, once he hears the sentence, his subconscious will automatically give an order to start accepting every new piece of information and stop any resistance to learning.

What are the challenges?

Usually, when people reach a high level of their expertise, they start to have challenges in gaining more information, especially if it’s related to their domain. And the reasons for this challenge are related to:

1.???Internal dialogue, which starts questioning the capabilities of the presenter.

2.???Some are victims of people's perception of them as experts, making it subconsciously challenging to accept any new information that may come from an unknown stranger or who does not have the same experience level.

3.???Others could have a limiting belief such as “this is not valuable for me.”

4.???Also, some have a pre-objective before joining the session, that it’s just an entertainment time, so they want to relax without bothering their minds with any new information.

5.???Sometimes, the beginning of the session could remind them of bad memories, so they will immediately be disconnected.

?

Who needs to UNLEARN?

All of us will reach the point where we need to unlearn some of the safe and familiar information to replace it with more needed ones. But there is a people who need to unlearn more than others, those who work as:

1.???CEOs

2.???Top management

3.???Consultants

4.???Special Matter Expert

5.???Teachers

This group usually finds themselves unfamiliar with being in the trainee's chair, so it is difficult for them to accept any new information.

If you are one of the experts mentioned above, the good news is that you don’t need a considerable effort to control your mindset.

Activate the secret features.

Acceptance: It always starts with acceptance, so you first need to accept that there is always room for self-improvement, and other people always have something you could not have.

Internal Dialogue: Have a positive inner dialogue and invite yourself to hear and enjoy the session. By doing this, you are giving a clear order to your mind to stop any other resistance thoughts.

Curiosity: we all have a curiosity, which sometimes drives us to go after irrelevant ways, or to open a new era of valuable information, therefore, activates your positive curiosity to start to see and hear what could be behind what exactly appears.

Powerful questions: it’s a great tool to deep dive into any learning session and to have an extensive understanding as well, the powerful question is driven by curiosity, so it’s always aligned with it. And to make your questions more efficient, try to ask open-ended ones which start with (Why, What, and How).

Conclusion

You have the best ever inner intelligent system, and it will not be expired unless you decide to do so, and like any other intelligent system, it always needs to be fed, therefore; don’t stop improving your knowledge, and when you attend any workshop, make sure that you become a new person compared to yourself before that workshop.

Finally, don’t forget always to enjoy what you are doing.
