We start learning from day1 and build our knowledge. As we go on it becomes very hard to change or accept that what we have learnt is changed. Take the case of Pluto we learnt that it was a Planet but now it is not !
Here are 5 tips to start unlearning
- Accept that there is change - This is the hard part , our brain is a very efficient system and tricks us in several ways to keep away from changes
- Challenge the status quo - Sounds Cliché , i know but it is the best way to start unlearning. I will write another article with simple steps on how to do this
- Curiosity DID NOT kill the cat - Always be open for new learnings and from different sources, never settle for a single view point seek multiple view points
- Go Deep into the subject - General awareness is fine, but you can not put it to any good use until you develop a deep expertise
- Last but Important one - Exchange the functions of the buttons on the mouse. For some days it will be chaos, every time you will click the wrong button but you will get hold of it eventually
Please share if you have different thoughts on how to Unlearn

2 年Very Interesting Ananda Kumar K.H Unlearning, in my opinion is a way of saying - Adapt, Evolve and Succeed! Isn’t that also the base of the Agile way of working ? Another example that I can think of - We unlearnt (evolved) from the waterfall way of working and started with the Agile way ! Accepting that there can be ways better than ones we know - is definitely a start! I recall reading a quote - ‘Transformation is more about unlearning than learning ‘ . Having said that it’s essential to understand when to use this powerful tool of unlearning!

2 年In my opinion and experience its not possible to UNLEARN. When ever we learn new things (with any of the mentioned methods above), the new experience improves our ability to handle old and new situations alike (new scenarios with new skill and old scenarios with old skills). Hence old experience is not UNLEARNED, but it becomes part of our wisdom, our experience and our character.. we become more mature.. Hence don't attempt to UNLEARN but attempt to continuously LEARN...
