University of Technology Sydney Eureka Prize for Outstanding Mentor of Young Researchers
It was fantastic last week to recieve the Eureka Prize for Mentoring of Young Researchers. I accepted this prize on behalf of the 4 Founders of IMNIS, Ronnie Wood, Tony Radford and John Kirby. We set ourselves the task of building a program that would have industry professionals mentoring 500 PhD and early career scientists in STEM each year. In 2022 we will have 430 mentees in the program, over 1700 alumni and 700 mentors.
From the start we had great supporters like Anna Lavelle, Jenny Petering and Sue MacLeman. We partnered with Mentorloop from the beginning and have watched them grow into a very successful company. ATSE adopted IMNIS with the backing of the then President Alan Finkel and there is now a great team( Scott Cummins, Sarah Hayward, Laura Navarro, Sarah Crowe) led by Maggie Evans-Galea expanding the program.
IMNIS would not have been successful without the participation of the over 25 Universities and Research Organisation and the 700 industry professionals who dedicate their time to mentoring the next generations of STEM leaders. Thank you to everyone for your support.
