Suggestions for a Global Model Varsity

The trisemester system needs to be introduced in the technical universities across the state for the first year BE/BTech Courses.The circuit branches where the student lacks practical skills and basic theory skills should be kept in mind in designing the curriculum for the trisemester system.The first year which of course stands to function from august to april end is trifurcated into 3 odd semesters with a more emphasis on 4 theory+ 3 labs.The physical sciences lab comprises into a single 100marks.The other lab must be the core engineering lab and the basic civil cum mechanical lab.The simulation exercise be included in the 2nd and 3rd semester pattern.The other assignments and lot of mental attitudes be given accordingly.This will make the student to catapult into their streams of study. A Centre for Industry-Institute linkage is necessary for the hands on training for the students and the faculty for the technical know-how.A number of Industry-Institution partnerships through Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with various organizations for training, technical collaboration and consultancy.

Innovation is the business for excellence. It’s the need of the hour to establish the innovation centre at the regional level colleges of engineering,technology cum management.The regional level colleges could tie with the all other colleges by a high backbone network.The Centre of Innovation will be headed by the post doctorate Professors with the core team of the industrialists and the highly skilled technical people.The Central government and the State should sponsor funds to the new research innovations.Cost effective solution with the blend of strategic framework in developing all the niche areas of technology should be evolved.The Space scientist,Nuclear scientist,IIT's,NIT's and IISc Prof should be involved in preparing a roadmap of investing the knowledge and research labs across the country.The areas have to be invested is on green energy,safe nuclear energy,climate change,aerospace,missile,textiles,automobiles,agriculture,ocean technology and ship building.Its high time for the largest population country like India to kickstart this plans.

The syllabus and the curriculum should be based on the research oriented inputs which may pave a way for the quality in technical education and generate research cum job opportunities.The syllabus should have the pivotal role in developing the students in key technologies.The IEEE/IETE and other journal papers have to be considered in deveoping the curriculum and syallabus.

In the technology areas like for eg the students does not have the practical skills of even fabricating the Medium scale IC.The theoretical hours should be reduced and more level of practical lab sessions needs be improved.The colleges bearing the post graduate programmes on hot technology such as mobile and persuasive computing etc should have the corresponding lab facilities.Students pursuing the post graduate course in engineering and technology should keep abreast of the latest technology events.Linkage with the core industries and the students should accomplish a patent registration and international conference submission of their academic projects.The senior faculties may be enrolled to teach the post graduate     subjects.

 As far as the curriculum is concerned,it is customary to buy the simulation tools depends upon the economic level of the college.The neighbouring college can buy the tool which may share on a mutual basis on conducting the experiments.Technology upgradation and forecasting prepares the students to stand in the competitive markets. Setting up the education in terms of the foreign university standards,bringing enormous corpus funds from the public private capitals will enhance the growth of the institution in all aspects.Patent based projects from the industries,research centres enhance the institutional business.Establishing the hard core research centre in the institutions in the arena nanotubes,biosensors,flight instrumentation will boost the institutional excellence in a global level.Degrees of freedom,liberation of dress codes,mobile phone use with the adequate knowledge of the terms of the use of all the above must be properly dictated.The students,the faculty members should behave with dignified spirits and be compassionate with the students community enriching knowledge cum research work.Value based education and community based centres empowering even on the women's welfare needs to be strengthened.Digital online library with enormous international journals,publications must be maintained.Enriching the staff-students ratio and Conceptual mapping in teaching methods should be maintained.

In the Various tier 1 as well as tier 2 Self financing colleges,the Management alone concentrates on the results,boosting University rank holdings and Placements.These are all important.But when an survey has been taken from the students community,they feels that they are less knowledge in their core subjects practically.They wants periodical workshops on technology issues.For eg,the 5 unit comprises of the Industrial case study and programming in ANSYS/CAD/CAM/ASIC/DCS/POWER AUTOMATION,the technology Professionals have to be invited for delivering the units.The students then will have an interaction with them.The recruited as well as non-recruited students are not concentrating on the Final projects.The Surrounding colleges in the zonal level will have to interchange the senior professors for the review in the other colleges.This will make an significant impact on the students project.The project base paper should be from the various International Engineering/Technology Professional societies.A secure Id /authentication should be given to the project batch as well as PG thesis so that it cannot be copied.The best projects should be send to INAE,Technology Entrepreneur cell and various Facilitators of the DST agencies.A Watchdog mechanism from the zonal level have to be created in monitoring the projects from B.tech level to M.tech level. The nation needs the young minds to nurture the talents,skills in all arenas of interest.Faculties should trigger the minds,spur innovation and specific recommendations to expand innovation eco system in india.Open book test is a crucial one of increasing the students interest.Students should be motivated to use the lateral thinking-right brain and left brain sharpening skillshe Institutions /Universities have to develop a strategy of funding their own institutions by a public-private capitals from the Multinational companies or national companies in their own country of index or research organizations on a mutual basis of knowledge sharing,resources etc.

The governments should evolve a framework where the reputed institutions on a regional wise would tie up with the leading producers/manufacturers or MNCs. The evolving IT boom and the entrants of sizeable automotive , aerospace domains in the southern India where the need of the high technology professionals in the core area is too warranted.The softwares and the algorithmic for the research needed in these specific domains where these institutions can be tied up to do a quality research.This may be a good approach for creating the centre of excellence in their area of research.The academicians’ , researchers and as well as the students can feel the company business environment.This will have an impact on the economic conditions of the country and the students can know technical know how of the product management.Many of the students will become a successful entrepreneur.
