University of Kentucky Trunzo Scholars Impress

Anne and I recently enjoyed a great conversation with past and present Trunzo Scholars at the University of Kentucky. Our thanks to the university and our friends, Clayton Thyne, Ph.D. and Chair of the Political Science Department, and Laura Sutton, Senior Major Gift Officer, Arts & Sciences, who joined us for the session.

We are so proud of these amazing students and alumni for their many accomplishments and honored to play a role in providing experiences that will help shape their future.

Students:

• Haley Hintz is a Political Science major who interned within the office of Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky (IL 9th District) in Washington, D.C.
• Kelsey Lockhart is a Political Science major who interned within the office of Congresswoman Susie Lee (Nevada 3rd District) in Washington, D.C.
• Sophie Marcolla is a Communication (Business & Organization) and Political Science major who interned within the State Senate Majority Communications Department in Frankfort, KY.
• Jaimie Tomaw is a Communication and Political Science major who interned within the office of Kentucky Senator and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell in Washington, D.C.

Alumni:

• Hadeel Abdallah (UK 2019) is a Rhodes Scholar attending graduate school at Oxford University. Hadeel conducted research at the Ahmed Kathrada Foundation.
• Bear Brown (UK 2019) is pursuing his Ph.D. at The Ohio State University. Bear served as a research intern for the American Enterprise Institute. 
•  Maddie Davidson (UK 2020) is pursuing her master’s degree in public administration at the University of Louisville. Maddie worked for Congresswoman Gwen Moore from the great state of Wisconsin. 
•  Evan Nixon (UK 2018) is now a third-year student at Notre Dame Law School. Evan, who was in our inaugural class of scholars, studied at the London School of Economics.
