"A Universal Plea"

What did you see when you first saw me...?

Was I playing a role that you thought I’d be...?

We give each other titles, from one name to another...With the intent of some to lift us up and for some, to do quite the other...

I’ve learned hard facts as some roles we play are optional, like wife, friend or lover while some are etched in stone and time, like sister, daughter, mother...

Imagine trying to navigate glass ceilings, glass doors, glass walls and every single turn presents so many pitfalls...

Can we create a world with no aforementioned - less stress, less strife, and a lot less tension...?

Who would have us run the gauntlet and say it’s an equal right of passage... All the while having no intent to uphold and honor the message...?

Who sets a false narrative and then forces one to choose... With neither option viable and in the end, we all lose...?

One world reflects the light in us and the other is consumed in dark, where no life can ever truly exist, not even the smallest spark...

We must select one world for us because we can’t survive in two...

Where false lines are set for the rest of us, but none are drawn for you...

Be careful as you make your choice but do not hesitate, because the one you choose reflects your soul and also seals your fate...

This plea comes from the ages, across the ebb and flow of time... It prompts us, nudges us, in the hope that we will find...

That we can only shape this world together, once we change from the inside ...

Chaunté: We all play a role in our professional world. The line is blurred within that brand and the truth is generally always somewhere in the middle. But without a doubt, before I knew you, this is what I saw: a strong woman veteran doing whatever she could to make a difference in her military community, sacrificing her time and money and time away from family. I thought you should have been sharing my #IAmEverywhere hashtag because for you it is really true. One day you are in SoCal, the next in CO, and then back to TX. You are energetic, passionate, and always looking toward the horizon with a clear gaze of what you want to accomplish. Everything I thought I knew about you before we were friends has only been enhanced. Thank you for being you <3
