About Us
The UPC Universal Peace Congress????was established with the vision of creating a platform where leaders, activists, scholars, and individuals dedicated to peace can collaborate and share their ideas. Our congress serves as a catalyst for change, encouraging dialogue and promoting initiatives that contribute to global peace and security.
June 23-27, 1889- The First Universal Peace Congress, convened in Paris (France). Presided over by Jules Simon [1814-1896].? First in a series of "Universal Peace Congresses." The Congresses continued until 1939 (33 congresses annually).
Over time, peace conferences organized by private citizens and voluntary organizations evolved into official peace conferences arranged by governments and attended by accredited diplomats. The First Geneva Convention was signed in 1864, marking a significant step towards international cooperation. In 1899, the first international organization, the Permanent Court of Arbitration, was established. The Treaty of Versailles led to the creation of the League of Nations in 1920, which was later replaced by the United Nations in 1945. However, the UPC Universal Peace Conference remains the surviving SRO and NGO that was the predecessor and GodFather of the League of Nations and the United Nations.
