Unity Is A Reality, Not A Strategy
”The Jews camped before mount Sinai” using singular language.
When referring to a group, the correct grammar would be to use the plural.
Many say the Torah uses the singular language to signify their unity at that particular time.
However, the question remains: why does the Torah have to resort to a grammatical inaccuracy to tell us of their unity?
The answer lies in a critical misconception of what unity means.
Many view unity as a strategy, meaning it:
-brings greater military and economic strength
-fosters greater happiness through companionship -allows for a support system in times of need
-avoids fighting and friction
-brings greater efficiency
However, is the idea fake? A ploy to create a better society?
The Jewish belief is that unity is not a strategy, it's a reality.
All of humanity's essence and identity is their soul which is a piece of God. God is one.
When the Torah uses the single language to describe the Jews before the giving of the Torah in the most profound and most real way possible: one.
God will use that language of this more accurate reality only when we live in sync with it. When we were finally living not in a dreamland of separateness but in sync with the most real fact of our existence: unity.
Ending trauma on a global scale one family at a time and it starts with healing ourselves! ??
