Uniting The Nation's Potential
At LinkAja, we often say that our mission is to unite, or link, the nation’s potential. #SatukanPotensiIndonesia as we say it. But what does that mean?
We truly believe that there is boundless potential spread among the archipelago. Many experts have said that Indonesia is poised to become one of the biggest economies in the world by 2045. One hundred years after our independence, a mere 23 years from now.
Many factors will come to play to make Indonesia one of the world’s biggest economies. From the upcoming demographic bonus and surge in young talents, the fact that Indonesia is the biggest economy in Southeast Asia, to the richness of resources and cultural diversity.
Granted, these will all have to be managed and orchestrated well, and I trust that the government is doing its utmost in realizing our potential.
In the private sector, and from our perspective at LinkAja, I see there’s still room to help achieve this goal. First and most important is realizing financial and economic inclusion. Growth and economic-value creation cannot and should not be concentrated only in and around the big cities. Second, we must be willing to pool our resources. To grow, cooperate and work together.
From small towns to big cities, ultra micro businesses to large corporations. Financial inclusion will only strengthen the nation's growth potential.
The first point is what underlies our prior directive to focus on tier 2-3 cities. We want to make sure that everyone will have the opportunity to partake in the digital economy and not lag.
But the second point is what underlies our new focus. LinkAja will complement our services with business-to-business services (B2B). We first launched Business Solutions in late 2021 to support corporations and MSMEs in managing their business through various features such as cash disbursement/collection, digitizing payments (through QRIS or merchant apps), and even advertising.
Through Business Solutions, we saw that beyond serving the underbanked consumers, we can support companies and even propel MSMEs to new heights through our services. In turn, this would have a multiplier effect on the economy.
By supporting businesses to grow, facilitating consumers to transact, and linking them all together in one ecosystem, we believe we can truly unite the nation’s potential. That is the essence of the two-sided business model that will be our focus onwards.
LinkAja is still young. We only celebrated our third anniversary earlier this month. But as we enter our fourth year, I am confident that LinkAja can deliver on that promise and truly make an impact.
Happy 3rd-anniversary once again, LinkAja. Gas! Gas! Gas!
