Digital Entrepreneurs, Mental Health & Resilient Mindset can be considered as the Triad for fuelling Sri Lanka’s Service Economy. Let’s dive into the story and learn how these three fuel Sri Lanka’s Economy
As a leader of Online Entrepreneurs Club, the largest community for digital entrepreneurs and freelancers in Sri Lanka, I’ve seen firsthand how our 170,000-strong community plays a pivotal role in advancing the service economy goals of the Sri Lankan Government’s Digicon 2028 vision. Our collective aspiration is to build a sustainable country through a “Service Economy,” a vision that aligns with the government’s transformative blueprint for digital empowerment. While we tirelessly focus on skill development, market access, and scaling businesses, an often-overlooked aspect remains: the entrepreneur’s mindset and mental health. Inspired by Mahendra Ramsinghani’s “The Resilient Founder: Lessons in Endurance from Startup Entrepreneurs,” this article delves into why mindset is vital for both individual success and collective progress towards a service-oriented future.
Why Mindset Matters: More than a Buzzword
Mindset is a critical factor that transcends individual entrepreneurial success and can collectively influence the realization of Sri Lanka’s Digicon 2028 objectives. In “The Resilient Founder,” The Author breaks down mindset into three key pillars that resonate deeply with our mission:
1. Self-Belief and Vision
For us to contribute meaningfully to Sri Lanka’s service economy, we must possess a robust belief in our ability to make an impact. Without a clear and confident vision, we cannot hope to align our micro-goals with the macro-objectives of Digicon 2028.
2. Adaptability
The digital landscape is ever-changing. Our ability to adapt to market changes, technological advancements, and policy shifts will determine how well we align with the evolving frameworks of Digicon 2028.
3. Resilience
Failure is an inevitable part of any journey. As The Author points out, the entrepreneurs who can bounce back from adversity are the ones who will shape the future. This resilience is crucial, not just for individual businesses, but for collectively driving Sri Lanka towards a sustainable service economy.
The Mental Health Implications
A misaligned or imbalanced mindset can lead to a plethora of mental health issues. In the high-stakes game of entrepreneurship, where the stakes are even higher given our aligned objectives with Digicon 2028, stress, anxiety, and depression are often waiting in the wings. The Author emphasizes that a resilient mindset not only cultivates mental toughness but also offers a buffer against these mental health challenges.
Strategies for a Resilient Mindset: Towards Realizing Digicon 2028
1. Open Dialogue
We, at the Online Entrepreneurs Club, advocate for transparent conversations about both successes and failures. These discussions humanize the entrepreneurial experience and make mental health a priority.

2. Mindfulness Practices
Mindfulness techniques like meditation can significantly contribute to the mental well-being of our community members. These practices align with The Author’s suggestions for maintaining equilibrium in a fast-paced environment.
3. Mentorship Programs
With experienced entrepreneurs guiding the way, the community can receive not only business-related guidance but also advice on sustaining a balanced mindset. This approach ensures a holistic development that aligns with Digicon 2028’s comprehensive vision.
4. Work-Life Balance
In our pursuit of a service economy, it’s easy to fall into the trap of hustle culture. The Author argues for a balanced approach, emphasizing that personal well-being is critical for long-term success.
5. Professional Help
We strongly recommend that entrepreneurs consult with mental health professionals. This is a proactive step that can equip our community members with the mental tools they need to navigate the service economy.
Conclusion: A Collective Focus on Mindset and Mental Health
As we steer towards the goals outlined in Digicon 2028, it’s paramount that we equip ourselves and our community with a resilient mindset. Not only will this help us individually, but it will also contribute to the collective success of Sri Lanka’s vision for a service economy. By focusing on both mindset and mental health, we can ensure a more sustainable and successful future for everyone involved — truly embodying the essence of the Online Entrepreneurs Club’s vision.
