The Power of Caring. Working for All. In Action.
At United Way of Dane County, we know that children who start kindergarten-ready and finish high school are more likely to have the skills required to be successful in life. That’s why our Plan for Community Well-Being focuses on a future where families are healthy and strong, and where all children can learn and succeed. Through our network of caring connections, we collaborate with organizations that help prepare youth for the classroom – and life beyond.
When Faith, a local 6th grade student, was struggling with math and needed extra support, she was paired with a tutor through the Middle School Schools of Hope program run by our partners at the Urban League of Greater Madison. She and her tutor met once a week during lunch and quickly formed a positive and impactful working relationship. Faith’s tutor and teacher worked together to identify patterns in her understanding of the subject matter and directly target those patterns. Through this coordinated effort – and hard work by Faith herself – she was able to significantly improve her grades and overall academic confidence!
We’re proud of supporting Faith through the Schools of Hope program. Together with our partners, we are helping children reach their full potential through our Plan for Community Well-Being. And you can help! Visit our website to learn more and make a gift to support more local families today.
Thanks to You, Community Kickoff Was a Success!
On Wednesday, August 21, we welcomed more than 500 volunteers to Breese Stevens Field for an afternoon of family-friendly activities and hands-on volunteering. Thank you for coming together to pack 3,000 Paper Product ImPacks and creating 1,000 notes of encouragement for local students.?These essential supplies directly impact the urgent needs our neighbors and help students realize their full potential.
ImPacks were distributed to our nonprofit partners at Community Action Coalition for South Central Wisconsin, Porchlight, Second Harvest Foodbank of Southern Wisconsin, WayForward Resources and Dane County Schools. It was a truly inspiring and energizing day! Check out more photos from the event!
