United States Military is almost completely broken in the eyes of the world

As of April 2023, about 152,000 Special Immigrant Visa (SIV) applicants remain trapped in Afghanistan. These people, who served side-by-side with U.S. forces during the long war, face years of danger, severe economic hardship, and increasingly onerous restrictions—particularly on women and girls—while applying for their SIVs through a complicated, Kafkaesque process.
The United States Military is almost completely broken in the eyes of the world, with our troops devastated by moral injury, from being part of defense system has ignored the people we have been entrusted with a responsibility to protect, without human rights and legitimacy in training and advisory mission.
The horror our forces live every day is indescribable, because the battlefield is relived everyday, as the 152,000 allies that we abandoned, contact them by social media.
This has been 3 years + nothing short of hell, for those 152,000 allies with SIVs and 40 million Afghans, as described by Victor H. Esch, Jr., former SENIOR ADVISOR - Afghanistan Ministry of Defense, NATO / ISAF:
"I am still working with about 20 families. I am not optimistic for them. Initially we got about 50 out but then, of those who did not escape, more than half of those left have been imprisoned and tortured, some released, we bribed several to safety, and at least 20 were killed or never seen again. Even for those who escaped to another country, the horrors the majority of the population has been exposed is Infathomable."
Now let's get a grasp on this, every day these allies contact U.S. forces that they served with, begging for help, and on top of their post traumatic stress, get to face the reality that their is no moral defense capability available to provide humanitarian assistance. Not only that, they get to be on the other end of communications that describe in detail, their capture, torture and murders, from their families.
This has been my life since 2011, as a mediation/advocacy lead for Village Stability Operations (VSO), Stabilization, Security, Transition and Reconstruction (SSTR) operations (the doctrinal foundation of military operations for NATO, that we do not follow), and Foreign Internal Defense (FID).
I can't describe in words to you, what it's like to be on the other end of communications with those victims, whether it was the youth in Iran on the Streets of Tehran (2009), the doctors in Syria at the hospitals, while Sarin attacks on populations are choking to death, while the Yazidis were being lined up in mass graves being slaughtered, or 152,000 Afghans we promised to protect, are being tortured and slaughtered.
This is the hell from which I run the Moral Injury and Growth Network, to comfort those experiencing the same trauma as me, where trust in God, while I sweat blood, is the only way, I can survive. Alone, without a spiritual support system from the faith community.
And I am a chaplain.

2 个月Prince Ali Seraj died in 2018, in my hometown of Milford, CT. https://lnkd.in/enE5J-8h -- Afghan "prince" who would be tribal president: https://lnkd.in/eYBjJzjz Following the terrorist occupation of Afghanistan in Aug 2021 and counterterrorism operations in 2025, perhaps the vision of Prince Ali Seraj can serve as a reference point for SSTR operations in Afghanistan. This is the 31 July 2011, archive of the National Coalition for Dialogue with the Tribes of Afghanistan (NCDTA). For the sake of historical record and solution oriented strategic planning, I am providing the following excerpts of a communication from Prince Ali Seraj of Afghanistan (Nov 2009): This manifest also appears in the British House of Commons report on Global Security?Afghanistan and Pakistan Aug. 2 issue. I can put the tribes behind the NATO forces or next to them to fight the enemy.?All they need to do is to ask.. I am the President of National Coalition for Dialogue with the Tribes of Afghanistan.?The tribal elders will listen to me and they are eager to enter the fight. Perhaps together we can convince the military brass that the tribal solution is the only solution. Ali Seraj Archive: NCDTA web site (Nov 2009) https://lnkd.in/e2Vtgvaj
