United States Ends Major Military Operations in Afghanistan

With U.S. military personnel leaving Bagram Air Base, the United States has effectively ended large-scale military involvement in Afghanistan, America's longest involvement in combat operations in any single location. It has been surprising and disappointing that this momentous event has received little media and public attention. Military personnel, veterans, families, and our Afghan partners have paid tremendous costs. It is vital we collectively recognize the incredible sacrifices incurred and some continue to incur with lifelong disability and the loss of parents, children, partners, siblings, and friends. This time reminds us about the need to support our veteran community beyond platitudes and well-wishes. Instead, we need to focus on substantive ways to address needs such as veteran career guidance, financial support of dependents, and care of those left behind in Afghanistan.?

3 年It’s tragic to see what is happening in Afghanistan since this story was posted. There still is an opportunity for the United States and it’s allies to act ethically and morally with our Afghan partners. I still have hope.
