United Nations Clean Water for All Goal

On the 25th of September 2015, all UN Member States, that is 193 countries, adopted the new 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and agreed with the due date of 2030.

The SDGs are the blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for every community. They address the global challenges we face, including those related to poverty, inequality, climate change, environmental degradation, peace and justice.

The 17 Goals are all interconnected, and are designed in a way that every country needs to achieve them for each of their own communities and also help other countries specially their neighbouring countries to do the same.

To achieve any of the SDGs for a community, that community first needs to have access to clean drinking water. Hence, the core of SDGs for every community is to have access to clean drinking water. Without access to clean water, a community cannot function and that issue becomes the cause of Extreme Poverty for that community.

There are many complication that arise out of Extreme Poverty, for example:

• Women and girls spend up to 6 hours each day collecting water, the equivalent of a school day
• Half of the world’s hospital beds are filled with people suffering from water-related diseases
• Water poverty kills 1.5 million children every year

Also a contradiction is occurring: high rates of child mortality are causing over-population and even more Extreme Poverty. Watch this video to be amazed and to discover how this is happening. Alarmingly, the world’s population is growing in only the poorest countries - and it’s growing at a rapid rate. Child survival is the new Green!

Goal 6 of the SDGs is entirely dedicated to Water and Sanitation. Access to Clean Water for All Goal is the first Target of Goal 6, named Target 6.1. This Target aims to impact the 785 million people that don't have access.
