United in the Fight Against Cancer
We are fortunate to live in a time when every day brings new advancements to the research, detection and treatment of cancer. And while these breakthroughs give us more hope than ever before, we can and must do more to win this fight.
Cancer remains the second-leading cause of death worldwide, and for those of us affected — either by our own illness or a loved one’s — we know the life-changing impact a cancer diagnosis has on an individual and a family.
Today, people from all walks of life are making a personal commitment to help eliminate cancer as part of World Cancer Day. At McKesson, we’re tapping into our deep expertise and unique capabilities across the organization to improve cancer care on many fronts:
- Within The US Oncology Network, we’re leveraging clinical evidence to match patients with the highest-quality care backed by proven outcomes. And our cutting-edge clinical trials program gives patients access to advanced therapies close to home.
- Our Life Sciences customers are utilizing McKesson’s real-world clinical and trial data to help get breakthrough cancer medications approved even faster, and they rely on our commercialization and support services to help patients and providers throughout the treatment journey.
- We’re using technology to reduce distribution timelines and accelerate patient access to specialty medications.
- By expanding our Home Infusion Therapy capabilities, we’re bringing care closer to patients and reducing the travel, discomfort and inconvenience that can accompany treatment.
But the passion our 80,000 associates bring to the fight against cancer extends far beyond the work they do each day. Within our McKesson family, we’re lending support to patients through volunteer programs and matching donation efforts. We’ve also created the McKesson Marrow Drive to grow the registry of donors willing to help patients battling blood cancers such as leukemia and lymphoma.
At the same time, we’re caring for our teams through a new employee network that will focus on cancer education, resources and fostering connections between caretakers and individuals seeking support.
I’m proud of our efforts to advance the treatment and support for those living with a cancer diagnosis. How are you or your organization helping reduce the impact of cancer? I’d love to hear your story.
