Node.js 20 has been released, bringing new features and improvements for developers. The latest release highlights include the new Node.js experimental Permission Model, synchronous import.meta.resolve, a stable test_runner module, updates of the V8 JavaScript engine to 11.3, single executable apps, Ada to 2.0, and more.
Slack recently described how it sends millions of messages daily in real-time across the globe. The company provides a comprehensive insight into its Pub/Sub architecture, designed to manage real-time messages at scale. Their core services are written in Java. The architecture comprises different components, including the Slack app, the WebSocket server, and the WebRTC infrastructure.
OpenAI updated embedding model offers State-of-the-Art performance in a secure environment to support production use cases with vector databases. The tutorial guides you through a simple flow to download some data, embed it, and then index and search it using a selection of vector databases.
Gruntwork announced the beta availability of Patcher, a tool to keep the infrastructure as a code updated automatically. At the time of writing, Patcher enables upgrading the CIS AWS Foundation Benchmark reference architecture from version 1.4 to 1.5, bringing in over 200 modifications and addressing three broken changes. The Infrastructure as Code Library from Gruntwork may be assembled into an end-to-end tech stack.
