Unique prepaid IoT SIM Card delivered by St. Nicholas

In Germany, children place the boots out on the day of St. Nicholas (December 6). If the children were good all year, they will find sweets in the boot. If they were not brave, they find a rod in the boot. I use the 6th of December for years in my info letter to my readers in wireless communication. I always come up with a nice story. This time I included in the story probably the first prepaid SIM card with an option to LwM2M server. The readers of IoT M2M Times can also get free prepaid SIM cards.

Newsletter translated to my German-speaking readers:

Dear Mr. Miller,

was your boot filled by St. Nicholas?

Gadgets in the boots with pay as you go SIM card

If you find a cellular camera or another gadget with a SIM card slot, it may have an IoT prepaid SIM from conekkt attached to it.

These SIMs are cheap for medium and high data volumes. For starters, there is 1 GB for one month at no cost. Nicholas has taken this over.

After the first month, the user of the IoT device can take over the management of the card himself. Nicholas is then out of the picture.

By configuring the devices with the SIM cards included, there is no need for users to install any unknown cards. Therefore, the devices work immediately. There is therefore no unnecessary support for claims.

Features of the new prepaid IoT SIM card:

  • eUICC SIM with global coverage.
  • Usage period: 1 month - 10 years and longer
  • Data volume: 100 - 10000 MB and more
  • Mobile networks: 2G, 4G, LTE-M
  • Online portal: SIMplicity
  • SIM card: triple cut SIM (mini 2FF, micro 3FF, nano 4FF), MFF2 SIM (chip)
  • Device management based on LwM2M (option)
  • From 5,90 € / GB data volume and duration selectable and changeable

Does the new SIM card fit your products? Would you like to test it? Then send an email to harald.naumann(at)lte-modem.com or harald.naumann(at)crout.eu .

I will take care of free cards for testing. Thank you in advance for feedback.

Best regards

P.S: Camera, IoT button, sensor ... with the new SIM card, the transfer of management is child's play.

Features of the new SIM card briefly explained

The few sentences below should roughly explain what it's all about. For almost all the points mentioned above, one could write a short article. If you are a manufacturer of wireless IoT devices, I will be happy to take care of a quote for this prepaid SIM card or other SIM cards as well.

eUICC SIM with global coverage

The eUICC SIM is a card with a rewritable profile. It is possible to change the mobile operator without physically exchanging the SIM card. This mobile operator profile can also be changed remotely (over-the-air). eUICC describes the management of SIM profiles.

Period of use 1 month - 10 years and longer

Using a SIM card for only one month or for longer than 10 years is unique for a prepaid IoT SIM card.

Data volume 100 - 10000 MB and more

The prepaid IoT SIM card is price optimized for medium and large data volumes.

Mobile networks 2G, 4G, LTE-M

3G is no longer supported because it has already been shut down or will be shut down soon in many countries. NB-IoT is not supported because it contradicts 100 MB or 10000 MB and more. In addition, NB-IoT does not support SMS. For eUICC SMS is necessary to control the profiles.

Online Portal SIMplicity

For a SIM card to be transferred to the administration, a portal is necessary. Because this is so easy with these SIM cards, the portal was named SIMplicity. The portal makes it possible to manage your IoT SIM cards efficiently. Due to the simple structure, it can be started directly without prior knowledge. Your IoT SIM cards can be managed centrally without much effort. With the SIMplicity portal, you have your IoT SIM cards and connections of your devices centrally under control.

SIM card: Triple Cut SIM (mini 2FF, micro 3FF, nano 4FF), MFF2 SIM (chip).

IoT prepaid SIM cards with form factor MFF2 (solderable SIM card) is very exceptional.

Device Management based on LwM2M

The option of an LwM2M server simplifies device management. In addition, LwM2M also controls the bootstrap, communication via profiles, FW updates over the air and much more.

From 5,90 € / GB data volume and runtime selectable and changeable

The price and the extremely flexible runtime are unique for prepaid IoT SIM cards.

Consulting and training

Regardless of whether your IoT device uses only cellular radio modules with SIM card or other radio technology, the device needs an antenna. Integrating antennas into the package is a complex process. This is often underestimated by hardware developers. I am happy to provide my many years of experience on a project-by-project basis.

Once the antenna concept is chosen, the integration has to be checked with a Vector Network Analyser (VNA). This can be done externally as a service. It is faster and cheaper to do this in-house. I offer remote training on how to use the VNA. I train the handling and the participants put what they have learned into practice. Within a few weeks the participants are able to measure and match antennas themselves and save the external service. Requests are welcome at harald.naumann (at) lte-modem.com

Achim Kraus thx for like. I have maintained the tradition of the Info Letter on St. Nicholas Day for a long time. I like to write short fanciful stories.
