Uniqlo Develops Facebook Messenger Experience

I got an email from Uniqlo last night where they invited me to join IQ, their Facebook Messenger Shopping platform.


Here's how it works:

Uniqlo is a brand that does a really good job of providing quality wardrobe staples at a reasonable price. From their site:

Apparel that comes from our Japanese values of simplicity, quality and longevity. Designed to be of the time and for the time. Made with such modern elegance that it becomes the building blocks of your style.

Uniqlo is innovating in the way that they are finding consumers where consumers are (their mobile phone) and relieving a potential pain or two ("I'm bored and want to shop" or "I'm terrible at shopping, I need a stylist"). The program is just in its infancy, but it is part of a growing e-commerce trend to move people into using their mobile device in novel ways to buy stuff.

Wrapped into the program is the integration with Facebook Messenger. Kudos to Facebook for also thinking of ways to partner with brands to bring value to Facebook users and also the brands that want to play in Facebook's sandbox.
