"UNIONS ARE RUINING THE COUNTRY!" - NONSENSE!

Hi and Welcome back to the Theory and Practice of Estimating Electro - Technology Projects.

In this LinkedIn Feature I want to share with you my thoughts and views regarding the - "CFMEU" ??

Whilst there's been much political banter and weaponising of the findings and workings of the CFMEU in the Australian Construction industry recently - it probably goes without saying that those of us who have worked in the commercial construction business for a while can report their own personal "Open Secret" experiences regarding this matter??

Whether OUR politicians are RED - BLUE or GREEN is IRRRLEVANT, what is RELEVANT is that despite previous Royal Commissions established by our RED - BLUE or GREEN governments over the years to inquire into and report upon alleged misconduct in the building and construction industry by Roger Gyles in 1990-92, another headed by Terence Cole in 2001-03 and another overseen by Dyson Heydon in 2014-15 which was estimated to cost the tax payer up to A$100 million and found cases of "wilful defiance of the law" and recommended criminal charges against certain unionists and unions - NOTHING HAS CHANGED??????♂???♀?

Our politicians are INCOMPETENT, RUDDERLESS and GUTLESS having failed every Australian FOR DECADES??????♂???♀???♂???♀?

Clearly - those with influence forgoing POLITICAL WILL and LEADERSHIP responsibilities is the root problem??

While workers are sacrificing a GREAT DEAL - it's largely INCOMPETENT and WEAK politicians from both RED - BLUE and GREEN camps that have exploited their constituents for decades with shit policies which have precipitated the collapse of many a great business at worst OR taken many to the CLIFFS OF INSOLVENCY at best??

Over these past 30 years or more there has been a trail of destruction, wreckage and human cost littering our nation and industry's due to these collapses and volumes of commentary on these matters from our many industry associations and INCOMPETENT, RUDDERLESS and GUTLESS politicians - yet we still witness business insolvency far too often??

In my view the cause of these travesties is not only GREED but a Sloppy "Good Enough" mentality that creates poor standards of financial management and control, poor people motivation and very, very questionable business ETHICS AND MORALITY from our SERIAL politicians??

Though I'm near the end of my working life I still feel bound and passionate enough to strive for better worker and? industry protections, ACCOUNTABILITY, INTEGRITY and STANDARDS because I believe like many other AUSTRALIAN's that these qualities and elements can make AUSTRALIA, our industry's and our UNIONS a better place in which to work and live??

Today's politicians can learn from the reformist strategies of Keating and Kelty - the fathers of our compulsory Superannuation System, Howard and Costello - the architects of GST and Private Health Insurance - GENERATIONAL CHANGES that improved the lives of every AUSTRALIAN????????

WHO were the last GENERATIONAL reform CRUSADERS in Australia after KEATING, KELTY, HOWARD and COSTELLO and WHAT did they reform????

With the benefit of hindsight - NOW is an opportunity to AIM HIGH for and build the best AUSTRALIAN INDUSTRIAL RELATION protections and safety nets our nation could conceivably produce without destroying the UNION systems, make it work and make it efficient??

To achieve such BIG reforms you've really gotta want to do them??you've got to be a LEADER a CRUSADER - You've got to be PRACTICAL and you've got to be TOUGH??

CRUSADER's without beliefs are not much good - they're INCOMPETENT, RUDDERLESS and GUTLESS people??

CRUSADER's with philosophy are fine??If I understand where you come from??If I understand what you believe in?? I actually develop a default position of trust with you??I may not like you - but I know where your coming from??

Since the first Royal Commission in 1990-92 to inquire into and report upon alleged misconduct in the Building and Construction Industry;?

• Not one CRUSADER has emerged within any political camp with the mind set to "bust down the doors" for INDUSTRIAL RELATION reform!
• Not one CRUSADER has emerged within any political camp with the mind set to explain to the NATION what INDUSTRIAL RELATION reform will look like!
• Not one CRUSADER has emerged within any political camp with the mind set to offer bipartisan support for INDUSTRIAL RELATION reform!

History has proven that the political prizes in Australia will go to the party with the POLITICAL WILL, LEADERSHIP and capacity to deliver GENERATIONAL CHANGE - just like their PREDECESSORS??

The RED - BLUE - GREEN and other mobs have kicked this footy around for too long without 1 goal in 30 or more years????????

There is an alternative "Democracy First" but do Australians have the courage of their convictions for this GENERATIONAL CHANGE???

I DO - because our NEXT GENERATION can't afford another 30 years of INCOMPETENT, RUDDERLESS and GUTLESS politicians??
