An Unhelpful Myth – We Are the Industry Leader

An unhelpful myth that we hear in many of our good organisations is ‘we are the industry leader’.

Very helpful in our marketing material.

Not helpful around the leadership table who are seeking to remain fit for purpose as the environment shifts.

This conversation always reminds me of the caution label on financial products:

‘Past performance is not the best indicator of future performance’.

In the coming week, where can you connect into this conversation separate to the narrative of your organisation?

I suggest finding people that don't know your role, don't know your work. And if you're just talking about what's going on in their bigger picture and get a very different perspective on all of this.
