An Unhelpful Myth: It’s Just Business (during leaps in technology)


An unhelpful myth for leaders during leaps in technology is ‘It’s Just Business’.

We hear ‘It's Just Business’, but when you're listening closely, what are you really hearing?


Are you hearing the defensive?

Or are you hearing the connecting into a bigger purpose impact?

?

Are you hearing low creativity?

Or are you hearing ideas that are actually going to differentiate you and your brand?

?

Are you hearing reductionist cost reduction thinking?

Or are you hearing system thinking that's connecting into bigger and bigger interdependencies and bigger impact?

?

What I observe is that those questions are at the ends of very different change-fitness teams. And being aware of that is more helpful.

?

In the coming week, what I suggest is listen to the conversations around you in regard to technology, and think about where are they coming from in the leadership change-fitness that's surrounding you?

?And does that actually serve?

?
