“What Thou, my Lord, hast suffered Was all for sinners’ gain; Mine, mine was the transgression, But Thine the deadly pain. Lo, here I fall, my Savior! ’Tis I deserve Thy place; Look on me with Thy favor, And grant to me Thy grace.”

?“For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly.” ( Romans 5:6)?Let that verse sink in for a moment,?Christ died for the UNGODLY!?He didn’t die for perfect people. He didn’t die for the innocent.??He didn’t die for people who aren’t so bad but made a few mistakes along the way.?Christ died for the UNGODLY!

?What does that say about us??If you and I believe that Jesus died for us, we are saying that we are among the ungodly!?Folks that is the truth.?That’s what it means to confess that I am a “poor miserable sinner.”?I am one of the ungodly.?“Mea… Mea culpa…. Mea Maxima Culpa” ??“I have sinned by my fault… by my own fault… by my own most grievous fault.”?This stanza says it, “Mine, mine was the transgression, But Thine the deadly pain.”?

?That is heart wrenching and heart warming.?In this sacrifice of Jesus for the ungodly… for those who least deserve it – is our one and only hope!?Because Christ for ungodly people like you and me we pray with confidence, “Lo, here I fall, my Savior! ’Tis I deserve Thy place; Look on me with Thy favor, And grant to me Thy grace.”
