In the United States of America (USA), a variable set of state and federal statutes controls the right to keep and bear arms. These laws regulate manufacturing, trade, possession, transfer, record keeping, and transport. The "Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF)" is one of the laws to control arms in the USA but seems insufficient.
But unfortunately, the GUN VIOLENCE seems so rampant that leads to tens of thousands of annual firearms-related deaths and injuries occurring in the United States and it could be in shopping malls, schools and colleges, university campuses, and anywhere anytime. Every second day or so, there are incidences of gun violence with homicide deaths by suicide, murder, kidnapping for human shields, and so on.
One can imagine the gory situation that in 2018, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) National Center for Health Statistics reported 38,390 deaths by firearms, of which 24,432 were suicides in the USA. A recent such incident is about the unfortunate assassination attempt of former President of the USA, Donald Trump by Thomas Matthew Crooks, a young man of 20 years old, as reported in a recent NY Post. Presently, as per one report, there are about 50 homicidal deaths per 100,000 people in the USA. According to a Pew Research Center report, gun deaths among America's children rose 50% from 2019 to 2021.
The Congressional Research Service in 2009 estimated that among the USA population of 306 million people, there were 310 million firearms (one person, one gun making a 1:1 ratio), and over that, this data excludes military armaments. As per one estimate, there are 114 million handguns, 110 million rifles, and 86 million shotguns. The effectiveness and safety of voluminous guns used for personal defense is much debated and there is speculation that now the Government would be much more serious to tighten the laws over Gun Culture by amendments in federal and state statutes.
Curbing gun culture and stopping mass killings in the USA is a complex issue that requires a multi-faceted approach.
·?????? To put stricter Gun Control Laws by implementing comprehensive background checks for all gun purchases, including private sales and gun shows. A law that allows family members or law enforcement to petition for the temporary removal of firearms from individuals deemed to be a risk to themselves or others. There is a need to reinstate and enforce a ban on assault weapons and high-capacity magazines. Arrange mandatory waiting periods for all gun purchases to allow for thorough background checks and cooling-off periods.
·?????? To implement community-based programs that address the root causes of violence and provide alternatives to gang involvement and criminal behavior. Also, there is a need of conflict resolution and emotional intelligence training in school curricula to tutor young people about non-violent ways to manage disputes.

8 个月Dr. Sikarwar you have touched upon a very important topic..these are my views, right or wrong.. There is a thriving market for Arms and supplies in the US. There is a huge industrial complex. Industries are actually to cater to the needs, but in a capitalist system.. we all know that needs are created to sell products.. assuming that such a scenario could be the case with the Arms and supplies industry too, the gun culture is a scenario that will prevail.. forget downgrading.. wars and civil wars, besides local gang wars and gun possession is something that will grow.. let's not forget a scenario similar to this could soon be at our doorstep in Bharat too, given that private arms manufacturing is being promoted.. at the moment the object of promoting private arms manufacturer in the country could be to become self-reliant, but time will tell what's in stock for the country.. hope Bharat will take the right lessons from countries like the US, their gun culture and the outcomes.
