The Unfinished Story
WorldVenture
We are a community of believers working around the world to proclaim the Gospel and make disciples of Jesus Christ.
If you have entrusted your life to Jesus, you are probably aware of the phrase?"the finished work of Christ." It refers to God's plan?of redemption, that through His death and resurrection, Jesus paid the full price for our salvation from sin and eternal separation from God.
By His grace, we are saved, not by our own works. He did it all. But are you familiar with the phrase "the unfinished work of Christ?"
This part of God's plan shows up in the scriptures, where God invites His people to join Him in what He is doing. From His promise?to?Abraham that?"all peoples on earth will be blessed through you" (Gen. 12:3) to Jesus's final words to His disciples?before His ascension, commissioning them (and us) as His witnesses "to the ends of the earth" (Acts 1:8), God has been calling His people?to make his glory known among the nations (Psalm 67). In Matthew 24:14, Jesus's response to His disciples' inquiries regarding His return is telling: "And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come."
This is "the unfinished work of Christ," and He has commissioned His people to work with Him, by the power of the Holy Spirit, to get it done!?
In the screenshot above, you can see what remains of the "unfinished story." According to the Joshua Project, out of the world's 17,259 distinct people groups,?7,220 groups have not yet been "reached" with a?gospel witness that has taken root and resulted in a multiplying church.
The book of Revelation?assures us that it can and will?be done!?Praise God, we know how the story ends! We are assured that representatives will be "from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne" (Rev. 7:9). Hallelujah!
