Dholavira
Dholavira is undoubtedly one of the recent offbeat destinations in India, considering it has its root in the ancient Indus Valley Civilization. It is considered the southernmost center of the great civilization and is located at Khadir island in the state of Gujarat. It is one of the most well-preserved sites of the Harappan civilization and various traces of archaeological origins are still prominent at the site.
Recently, UNESCO has included this ancient site in its World Heritage list.? This has suddenly increased the curiosity of people all over the world to explore the mysteries surrounding this ancient site. It is mostly famous for its urban settlements which include a fortified citadel, middle and lower towns. It is hard to believe the ancient walls and streets are over 4000 years old, and the serenity surrounding the place is mesmerizing, to say the least.
Mana Village
Mana village is a classic example in our list of the unexplored places to visit in India. It is generally considered as the last Indian Village mostly due to its location, which is just 25 km from the Indo-China border at the origin of river Saraswati. Despite being located on the outskirts of the great pilgrimage of Badrinath, it is often ignored by many tourists.

There are many places to visit at the site, be it the great Neelkanth Peak or the Tapt Kund. The Neelkanth peak is famously known as the ‘Queen of Garhwal’ and is a great attraction for snow trekkers. The famous Vyas Gufa here is named after the ancient Hindu sage Ved Vyas, who lived here while composing the epic Mahabharata. The locals here take pride in naming their shops ‘last shop of India’. Varkala
Beaches are divine! The peace that beaches offer is incomparable and not many will disagree. Few beaches have not been fully appreciated for their pristine beauty and untapped natural diversity. Situated at a distance of 40 km from the capital city of Trivandrum, these beaches are famous for their sea mounting cliffs.
Varkala is also famous among the pilgrims for the Shivagiri Mutt which was founded by a famous local leader and social reformer Narayan Guru. Among the beaches, Papanasam Beach is the most famous. It is home to a hot spring whose water is famous for its medicinal properties. Kushinagar is one of the most famous pilgrimages of the Buddhists, where Lord Buddha had attained Mahaparinirvana after his death. It is famous for various Stupas, temples, and museums of diverse origins. It has got its mention in the writings of Chinese traveler Hiuen Tsang. Being a place of Buddhist importance, its art and architecture have been shaped by the culture of various Southeast Asian countries, Korea and Japan. Now with the inauguration of the International airport recently, this historical city has become accessible from almost all the major cities around the globe.
