An Unexpected Visit

So with the Beast from the East in full swing and with Storm Emma brewing we were really surprised to see these unexpected visitors brave the elements to come and check up on our #FitForAKing refurbishment at the hotel earlier this week!

Filbert the Fox and Welford the Tiger are pictured here with our General Manager Steve, who awkwardly isn’t famed for his football OR rugby knowledge! In fact it’s kind of a running joke how little he knows about Football. Cycling is MUCH more his thing… (but not in this weather!)

We thought it would be a great time to update you on the Open Lobby progress anyway and tell you a little more about what the Holiday Inn Open Lobby concept is all about!

So imagine, if you will, a hotel lobby that’s no longer a place for arrivals and departures, but instead, it’s a flexible environment where you can eat, drink, work, meet, relax, socialise AND have fun. When our refurbishment ends, you’ll be able to eat what you like, when you like, where you like! There’ll be free Wi-Fi, Apple Macs, charging stations board games and even a foosball table too! It’s going to look very modern and so different from our old bar and restaurant, much lighter and open (the clue is in the name) but don’t worry we are keeping Starbucks!

In terms of progress, the boards are still up and we still aren’t allowed to go in and look (safety first!) but our GM took some pictures for us of the new floor tiles and partitions to give you an idea of ‘the look and feel’.

For now, we are using our Leicestershire suite and function bar as the temporary restaurant and bar area, but in two weeks (all being well) we should be serving Starbucks coffees, breakfast and our all day dining menu from our new space and we can’t wait!
