The unexpected nature of change

Yesterday, Easter Monday, was one of those "four seasons in a day" type of days.
Black clouds sent rain bouncing down onto the lake in front of our house. It looked set to continue for some while, yet as sometimes happens in life, an unexpected change happened.
The sun popped back to say a late afternoon hello before the clouds had fully given way to blue skies, creating the most beautiful Easter moment.
A vivid single full rainbow appeared over the house and then became two, appearing all the brighter against the dark sky.
It prompted me to think of the question I use increasingly these days to help people recognize and start to mitigate the stress they are feeling:
"What's your internal weather like?"
When unexpected change happens, we all have the ability to choose how to respond to it.

Change can sometimes affect our unconscious expectations, assumptions, values, needs, and egos. If the change is relatively small and the right way to respond is clear, we can move forward relatively easily back into the metaphorical sunshine without using too much emotional energy.
Sometimes, however, where the impact of the change is such that its emotion can be measured on our internal Richter scale, we need to spend time letting the emotions of our internal weather pass. Doing so helps our minds be calmer. In that state, we are more open to finding the silver lining in the clouds and enjoying the rainbow that follows.
While it is easy to unlock a small, unexpected change on our own, if you are like me, then sometimes you just need to talk through a gritty, bigger problem to make sense of it and find some internal peace and a way forward.
If you are going through something career-related that is filling your internal weather with dark and persistent clouds, why not DM me for a chat?
I would love to help you find the rainbow in your current career challenge.
Happy Tuesday!?
Best wishes
Carolyn
